Data caps

Im curious by how much they will increase the allowed cap on LTE. I understand they can not offer unlimited, but they do need to allow different tiers.
Just go get alltel they don't put caps on data cards !! Not 2 much time left to do this as time is ticking away for alltel!!

Not sure how much they will increase data caps on 4G networks, but I'm almost positive they will go up. With 3G networks, there are plenty of my customers for whom 5GB is a de facto unlimited plan, but once we hit 4G and people start doing things like...

SIM cards = CDMA or GSM for LTE?

Does this mean VZW is changing to a GSM based network. Or will use CDMA but with SIM technology.
They are going to GSM-LTE I am sure the phones will support both gsm-cdma until it is phased out like analog

Neither. LTE is neither GSM nor CDMA. It is a new technology in both airlink & core network.

LTE and WiMax same speed?

What's up with that... LTE is the same speed as WiMax! It looks like LTE won't have a huge speed advantage over WiMax. WOW!

LTE technically is faster but the speed difference will depend on many things...

Sim Card--YES!!!!

With their decision to use SIM cards, which will be in line with the rest of the GSM world, it will make for devices that are interoperable between AT&T and Verizon. Maybe we will have the ability to have built-in LTE modems be almost universal in laptops. GOBI is nice, this would be much nicer. Because if everyone has the hardware they only need the sim and a data plan and if they have a sim from all the providers they can use the best data plan for whatever location or use.
Apparently you didn't read the part where it said "the cards will likely only be swappable with other Verizon LTE-certified hardware"

Yes that is what it said. You didn't expect verizon to allow something and not lock down their devices did you?

Don't get too excited. Chances are that Verizon's phones will be dual-mode LTE/CDMA, so to use one on AT&T, you must be in an area where AT&T will have an LTE network. I am pretty sure AT&T's phones will be LTE/UMTS/GSM.

China already uses CSIM cards for their CDMA network. I do not think for a moment that ATT, T-Mobile and Verizon would share 4G networks. American corporate selfishness for the almighty dollar rules the roost. Sad

Hell yes!

I usually don't get to excited about this stuff, but living in Seattle I bet we'll be one of those markets in 2010! It's pretty nice to see verizon getting aggressive with their LTE plans, still in shock with the SIM announcement too.
Like how? Phones are usually Network locked as it is now, and not everyone wants to spend money on www.ashadyphoneunlockerwebsite.com to make a T-Mobile phone work on AT&T. That and unlocking the iPhone is inconvenient what with having to buy new Turb...
