battery life

I have had the MyTouch 4g for 3 days now. My battery seems to drain after about 6 hours of normal use (apps, web, phone calls, SMS, etc). Is this normal for MyTouch 4g? for all Android phones? for all smartphones? Just keep plugging in to my computer, car charger, etc? My previous phones (BB Bold 9000, Treo 650) lasted 1-2 days on a charge. Is the iPhone any better?
had the exact same problem. the reps told me that was normal and i should invest in more chargers. i turned it back in and am waiting for the bold 9780.
I wrote a review for this phone and plainly stated that it was an incredible phone but that does...

Confused about 4G! HELP!

I can't seem to connect to anything through 4G. I have great WiFi connection when a network is available, but when I am not connected to a WiFi network, I can't do anything such as Facebook, words with friends, etc. Anyone know how to "turn on" the 4G? Please help! Thanks!
Well this could be a few things, either your data plan is not up correctly with T-mo in which case you will need to contact them. Your phone should not show 4g or H+ if this is the issue, but go to Menu>Settings>Wireless and Networks> Mobile Network s...

Is Swype the only way for text entry?

I the Swype and Swype keyboard the only option for text entry? Is there a standard Android keyboard, I went through settings and keyboard but I need something with better auto-correction when typing, thanks in advance.
Never mind, figured it out, you have to tap and hold for a couple seconds in the text entry area and let go and select input method then you can select touch input, which is very much like the iphone but also has the option to voice-to-text.

No all you have to do is the keys individually, and you will be able to text regular. I love this phone by the way.

Cant change the message alerts

I am having an issue with this phone. I go into messages and hit the menu button to bring up settings and then I go into the section for received messages and received notification is checked, play notification sound is checked and then I select a notification sound. But it won’t change it! It doesn’t even play the default sounds it plays Alpha. I have gone into the phone profiles to change the notifications alert and everything else I can think of nothing seems to change it. Anyone else having this issue. Does anyone have fix? Also another weird thing when I try to download an app from the marketplace that may override the phones built in settings it keeps force closing the program when I go into to download one. What is up with t...

I know I'll get voice no problem but want to know if I'll get 3G data speeds?

Can't seem to find the answer anywhere.

I was just wondering if anyone knew of any way to set up exchange webmail on this phone? I did it when I had my Blackberry but can't now. I am trying to get my work email to it but dont have complete settings so this is how I had set it up when I was using my Blackberry.

android vs, windows

I currently have my touch 3g. Im planning to update next week to either the my touch 4g or the htc hd7. Had a chance to play with each of them for a few minutes, Both seem nice, but they're 2 differnt animals. Will the hd7 be reliable - being so new??
I was never a fan of the old windows mobile but I will admit the new windows 7 is very much user friendly and seems a lot better and more reliable, I do love the animations that the windows 7 provides but android is still much more customizable and th...

great review.... BUT

When using the WIFI for calling or internet or when using the voice turn by turn navigation (Which is way cool cause it's free), you can literally watch the battery drain. That was my experience in the two days i owned one. Took it back and am waiting until the release of the the bold 9780.

HTC MyTouch 4G vs HTC EVO

Can anyone give me some sound advice as to which phone is better. I currently have T-Mobile and its time for an upgrade. Half of me wants to go ahead and get the MyTouch 4G, but at the same time the EVO is really tempting. The specs look almost identical for both phones. Can anyone fill me in on which phone is the 'Best Buy' overall?
It really depends on the coverage. If you have no Sprint coverage where you use the phone then no matter how good the EVO is, it won't do you any good.

That said I had a EVO for about 3 weeks before I took it back. I just couldn't get more then 6 h...

You know what my problem is...

Is that this phone is so god damn ugly! HTC Expresso interface = YUCK!!!! Who's idea was it to put bubbles around the icons??? It's horrible. They should have just put Sense instead of patronizing T-Mo customers by creating their own customized UI.

Such great specs wasted too. Second generation 1GHz processor, Front facing camera, Sony Super LCD, HSPA+. The target audience of the MyTouch series doesn't give a crap. The MyTouch line was designed to be midrange and these are high end specs.

If T-Mo were smart enough they should have put all of these features onto the G2. Then they would have created the perfect phone giving the Epic a run for it's money. But nope as usual T-Mo misses the the mark.

I'll stick with the Vibrant for now....

Front Camera and DLNA?

Did I miss it or did the review forget to mention the front facing camera, or the DLNA streaming?

The fact that it sports a second generation Snapdragon processor with the newer video cards would be nice too.

Really a beast of a phone.

Great review.

I got this phone in yesterday morning and completely agree, HTC has done a bang up job on this phone.

I was a little disappointed with the camera myself, though I am currently comparing everything against the iPhone 4. Everything else is super speedy and very well done.

Even though I am an iPhone fanboy, I kind of like the punch T-Mobile took at AT&T/Apple with their new AD this morning... pretty funny!

At least you admitted it. Good for you. That's the first step towards recovery.

I agree. Great review. I got to test it today at a store that carries phones from multiple carriers. At first, I was not impressed when I saw it next to the others like the iPhone and other Samsung and HTC models, but after playing with it, I notic...

wow

Wifi "lite" calling, HSPA+, Swype, 3.8" screen (that's right, not everyone likes the retrogressive, back-to-big movement), DLNA, Froyo, FFC (usable over the network AND wifi) and a host of other awesomeness = one bad ass phone!

My only gripe is if it's like the G2, then there's no native access point tethering. Luckily, there are apps for that which don't require bluetooth or a usb cable as they both are bottlenecks.

Cheers
I was thinking about upgrading to the G2 (which is still an excellent phone), but after seeing the specs for this phone...I may just wait!

Better yet, I may wait even beyond this phone, because I guarantee you, this is a sign of things to come!
