Nice thought, but...

the CAN-SPAM law as it is now doesn't matter to spammers anyway.
If they make SPAM SMS illegal, then you have to worry less about your phone bill being a quarter more expensive per month if you don't have a SMS package. Some people block SMS because of this. Other people block SMS because they are EXTREME penny pin...

The M-SPAM Act would prohibit marketers from sending SMS pitches to landlines registered to the Do-Not-Call list and all mobile phones.

Someone want to explain how you send an SMS to a land line???
maybe there's a reverse to services like alltels: "voice to text" and possibly a txt to voice.

i've accidentally txted landlines before and i get prompted (with at&t) that if i want to translate my txt to a landline its 10 or 15 cents, something li...

I sent text messages from a Verizon phone to other Verizon landlines frequently. It costs the sender 25 cents to send an SMS to a landline. The recipient gets an alert, and then the SMS is read to them over their phones.
