Glitchy

I think this phone runs really slow and the battery life is terrible
The speed is fine, but i DO agree with you on the battery life.

Still a Blackberry

As much as some of the newer phones (Android) out there can do, I still love Blackberry for one simple reason. You press a button and the phone just goes. There is basically ZERO lag when performing basic functions like checking e-mail, sending a text message, or placing a call. Even on many of the top Android devices the lag time is noticeable. On lower-end Android devices?? Forget about it. Sure it's great that you can download several hundred thousand apps, but what good is a smartphone if it's not all that great at being a phone?
I just ordered this for the very reasons you stated. I had a droid and I did love it, but in the end it was just a toy and I started to get annoyed with touchscreen texting and I really never used half the apps I downloaded. So I'm back to Blackberry!...

Period Issue

On most of the Blackberry reviews the reviewer always list the same issue of having to hold the ALT key in order to type a period.

Anyone familiar with Blackberry's knows to type a period you just hit the space bar twice.
We're certainly aware of that. Did you read the next sentence? 😉

RIM's double-tap-the-spacebar trick isn't very helpful when entering URLs because it adds a space after the period.

Why Won't This Device Go Away!

There is so much better out there than the BB Curve family for the same money or just a little bit more. Unless your job requires you to have one as in they gave you one and they are invested in the blackberry servers then forget it.

Because it's excellent and people love it.
Not everyone needs, wants, or can afford the higher-end models. Every product lineup needs a low end, or the high-end models wouldn't be high-end, now would they? 😉
