Nokia Broadens Cost-Cutting Measures
This just goes to show...
Theres a lot of movement right now. People are starting to spend money again. Theres a lot more bargin shoppers then ever before, true, but those are shoppers none the less. So far the 1st 2 months of the year have been good for the cellphone company I work for. We did better numbers for 1/09 then 1/08 (my location at least). 2/09 is trending to do better then 2/08 as well.
America tends to forget. Or, at least, we try to anyway. We deal with it as it comes to us and then once its salty in our mouths we try to forget it. This applies to a lot of things. In this case, we are trying to forget that we are broke. So we treat ourselves to a new model cellphone and enjoy the fruits of our labors.
I think what Nokia is doi...

About 4 years ago (I think) every body assumed that the cell industry was bullet proof. Even if everything crashed, cell phones wouldnt be dragged down with it. Look at what happened with the houseing market. The only reason Im in cell phones is because of that crash.
Now we're looking at a very bleak situation. Im in danger of having my stores closed, even though when I got here sales went up. I think people are going to buy phones, everybody "needs" a phone but I think its going to be the free phones and phones in the $25-$75 range. I havent sold a Blackberry all of Feb....

Ok, so I agree with you on things like TV's (honey, we already have a TV that works just fine, lets wait till something goes on sale), Bluerays (My HD TV wouldnt be right for a Blueray, I need a Plasma....hmm, I guess DVD's will just have to do for now). I also agree (and like I said about bargin shoppers) that most phones sold will be between $25-$75 range (i also believe the plans will be in the same range - I been selling the 300 my faves a lot more the 600 for all of 09). I continue to agree that the new data plans (25-35) make some (most, now right?) custom...

I don't know. I guess I'm just dealing with a lot of uncertainty in my life right now and thats causing me to act like Murphy. I guess no one really knows right now, we'll just have to wait and see what happens. No matter what though, I don't see it moving up and to the right for at least 8 months, if not longer.
Touch 2 and Diamond 2 are killers. It aint gonna stop. Samsung going Android. Sprint decided to accept Android now. Tmo offering killer plans. AT&T's grip on the iphone is coming to a end and Verizon has been investing in newer hip phones. HTC is on fire right now. Wing II, HTC Shadow, Sidekick 2009, G2, 8900, Dash II, Memoir, even Nokia isnt giving up.
Half full Haley, Half Full. lol.
Lets Stick Together....
Im using the 8900 right now and so far, in all honesty, this is the best T-Mobile phone Ive ever owned. Does everything i want it to and doesnt fall short anywhere (other then themes and games but that isnt Blackberry's or T-Mobiles fault). Stero Bluetooth, Video Recorder and the capability of actually using my Memory card made me sell my G1 at wholesale.
See, even you, tell yourself you shouldnt buy a new phone, but even you, know you will.
And the Touch 2 is "out there" even though its not released. But for the sake of being correct I will make an amendment to my previous post...
"I bet the Touch 2 is GOING to be the best phone bar none, WHEN it is released."
Is that better? lol đ
haley72 said:"I bet the Touch 2 is GOING to be the best phone bar none, WHEN it is released."Until then, my 8900 is the best phone CURRENTLY out. I will agreee with you if you agree with me.
Lol, thanks for the convos and smiles Haley. Made my day speed up about 4 hrs. Thanks. đ

Aaaaaaaaah, and you were doing so well Haley! lol.
I'll just buy an unlocked Pre when its released for over seas. I might just have some money put away by then
The sprint store in this mall is the same. Some young (19-21 max) nuckle heads who toss the best pitch to thier peers and think their elders aint really shoppers, just lookers. I worked for that store before it was bought out a while ago. Im not sure what sprint is doing.
It seems like they have HALF of a really great team. One side said get Nextel (great idea) other side does nothing with it (bad idea). One said says lets make better phones (good idea) while the other side says sure but lets stick to the old and deny the new (no android - bad idea). They have everything it takes but use only half what they hav...

I love my Curve and I have never had a problem with Att's service. Ya thats right I said it. I HAVE ATT SERVICE!!! So what, wanna fight about it? lol
Seriously though, I know that not every company is perfect and I can say some bad things about Att as well but you can say bads thing about every company. Ive said it before and Im sure Ill say it again, different carriers work better is different places. Ive seen areas where Att just dominates and others where Tmo is best or Sprint. It just depends on where you live. Hopefully with TV switching to digital that will free up some spectrum for all the carriers to expand thier network and o...

lol. Think: Positive!
Dont get me dreaming again...I see you with BOTH those phones. Trying them out and GIVING away your least favorite to a family member who JUST broke thier phone the night before you got BOTH of yours.
How sweet would that be? Or better yet, what if you was asked to be a Tester for BOTH these phones before release? How great would THAT be?
Then (im gonna take this a little futher), they let you keep the one you liked best for FREE!!! w000000t!
Ok, so, maybe all of this is indeed only me dreaming. However, when compared to these other dreams, the possibility of you getting a promotion is MORE likely then any of these others. So....therefore....it CAN happen.
Thanks for the optimism and comedy with your posts. I needed to laugh today.
