Blackberry Torch 9800 Battery life

What is the best way to extend battery life? I have set screen brightness to lowest setting, shortened phone ring tones, set phone to turn off at night, etc.
I am not really sure what the best way to charge it is. Charge on or off? Let battery run out?
Any suggestions?

BlackBerry Torch

Not impress by the phone, I own BlackBerry Bold 9000 since it was release on Nov. 2008 awesome device and The damn phone is still running at 624Mhz, and BlackBerry Bold 9700 running at 624Mhz, and the new Torch is running at 624Mhz, I mean what is the deal? that fine when there no touch screen and when you add a touch at least damn make the processor 1 gigahertz. Come BlackBerry...I am returning your Torch today, I ain't signing up for the 2 year contract on a crappy device. Get with the program RIM you are behind in technologie and guess what you are 4th in the market and Android is kicking you in the rear. RIM is down folks mark my words, if you want to come back make sure you are running at least 1 gigahertz and make sure the damn thing ...

Verizon

Will Verizon ever get this phone ?
Not likely for a long, long time. Look at the Iphone. Besides, by the time it gets to Verizon (if ever), it will be old news and there will be a newer offering you will want even more.

Jealous of the form factor

I love the overall form of the device. It seems to me a vertical slider is the way to go - all the screen real estate of keyboardless phone and the one-handed typing ability of a Blackberry or Treo. Out of the dozens of identical looking Android devices out there you'd think someone would have made an Android in this shape by now.
Theres a motorola one with a vertical slider comin soon. Its been leaked on a websites.

Cases Finally Here

Have been waiting a while for the pocket (slip) cases and horizontal belt cases with sleeper switches. I have loved these cases when I had the Bold and they are now available for the Torch. The pocket case is a bit tight but loosens up with use. They have the eaccess logo on them. They are not inexpensive ($29.99 each) but I think they are worth the price. I assume more will come out in time, but would have purchased these in anyway. They have held up well with my Bold (my wife continues to use my old slip case - she has my Bold now).

Productivity apps

I'm looking for the best torch "to do" lists and other helpful productivity apps

so far I like Phone Logger, yelp, and Edit Documents To Go.

Even wonder about grocery lists apps and whatever is truly helpful to organize, etc..

Any other suggestions for the business user or writer type with phone.

BB Torch Calculator

Has anyone found the calculator? Thanks
It's in the Applications tab. If you don't see it right away just scroll a bit. It's in there.

what's the scoop on how long AT&T has an exclusive on the Torch or when it's coming to Verizon?
I wouldn't hold my breath. Look how long the Iphone has stayed exclusively on AT&T.

Email & Calls over Wi-Fi?

I have zero AT&T reception at my house. Any idea if Blackberry OS 6 supports BES email over Wi-Fi? What about inbound/outbound calls over Wi-Fi?
Do u have absolutely no reception, or just low reception?
Supposingly the BB Torch gets two bars more reception than other phones in the same area.
...
BES will work over wifi, that is you will be able to get emails, send BBMs, and browse the web.

Calls will not work through wifi because AT&T doesn't support UMA. T-Mobile is the only carrier that supports UMA, which allows you to place/receive ca...

Your APN's are set correctly for TMO right?

To all the iOS4 and Android lovers out there...

...give this handset a break. It's modern, extremely well built & completely competitive with anything Google or Apple can offer.
AND it will last for more than a day without being plugged in! Amazing.

I've loved BB for years, and this phone pleases me immensely. Let's get a CDMA version now! (hint hint)

๐Ÿ™‚
'ya, listen, the truth is BB users don't care HOW it compares to Android and iOS; we're happy with the new interface justfinethankyou. not everyone wants/needs those other devices, that's why there are choices in this world. (i must admit a faster pro...

Amazon drops price to $99.99, waives activation fee through 08/31/2010

So the question is...do I return mine to the at&t store and buy another through Amazon and save approx. 136.00??

Maybe at&t will drop the price ๐Ÿคฃ
Be very careful with Amazon and other online sellers, especially if you have any older and cheaper plans with AT&T (or any other carrier for that matter) they will make you change to a new and more expensive plan. And on top of it, they have their ow...

Questions about the Torch.... Please fill me in if you've got one...

First of all, I want to know if the phone has a status light indicator for notifications.
Also, can u still assign two different ringtones to each contact.... One for their texts and one for their calls??
Does AT&T offer insurance for this phone??

Right now we have the iPhone 4, but my husband wants to switch to the BB Torch, so I wanted to find out a little bit about the phone.
Thanks for any help!!

Can it be used on the T-Mobile network?

If i were to buy this phone from AT&T, contract-free, and activate it through T-mobile, will i lose out on any features or experience any frequency issues?

Can this phone support T-Mobile's 3G network?
It will support TMobile on the 2G network, no 3G coverage due to the AWS 1700mhz for their 3G network...

HSDPA 3.6

๐Ÿ˜ข I wanted this bb until i saw that. that's really a dumb move because most smartphones now are 7.2.
It does support both levels of hspa. Also hspa isn't even out yet. you're complaining about a feature that you wont have until you're buying your next phone.
