This is absurd

There is no justification whatsoever for this idiotic bill. As remarked by another contributor, if cameras don't make a loud click, there's no reason cell phones should have to. And even if cameras DID make that sound, one has the right to demand silent photography. I want to know exactly which imbecile proposed this.
aparently some senater or such probably ended up with pics of his wild kids online because of the silent camera phones. and is now pissed about it instead of being pissed that his kids are out of control....just a guess, lol

This is absolutely absurd. It is the principle of the thing! It begins with camera clicks and ends with complete control. Government has become way too intrusive and is getting worse! Liberals want to control thinking, acting, what you can or can n...

Why only cameras with phones attached?

What about my Canon digicam? Does that need an alligator bell as well?

Of course, all you whores out there can stop wearing skirts if you don't want people sneaking a peak at your underwear.
So just because I wear skirts, it gives you the right to be a perv? 🙄

If you are in public...

...expect that every single thing you do is being recorded: security cameras, traffic cameras, ATM cameras, even streaming web cams in many places now.

Making a camera click sound as a "safety" feature will not prevent anyone from snapping a picture. First, it's legal. If you are in a public place anyone can be photograped all day, even if you ask them not to do so. There is no right to privacy in a public place.

Second, the creepy child stalker types will not be suddenly cured of their sickness because of this. Most phones take video, which would be pointless if there was some constant sound being emitted making the audio part of the video useless to everyone.

Also there are literally millions of already existing digital came...

What are you guys taking pictures of?

This law doesn't really hurt anyone, however it does protect the rights of millions of women who are violated everyday. Secondly, this is one of the problems with the country, everyone thinks about how something will make them go out of their way, instead how it can help everyone as a whole. For the most part I think most of you are stand up people, on the other hand some of you are pretty stupid and can be jerks. I'm sure there of some of you who get off on jerking off to those secret pics you take on the bus, more than likely the ones who are so ferociously fighting this law as silly. There are plenty of silly laws, like speeding zones, most people don't follow the speed limit so why even bother. The point isn't to get you to follow t...

It doesn't matter what subjects I choose in a public setting.

The reason that we keep seeing money wasted on stupid doa bills like this is that few people really have any idea of what a "right" is.

This is RETARDED

Yes, I said RETARDED.

Some say it's to protect females from getting pics taken of them by perverts...what horseshit! Put a finger or thumb over the speaker and there wont be a hearable click. Besides whats the average megapixel of cameraphones? 1.3? Can't take a decent picture with that and if you could the female would have to be in sunlight or bright ass lights standing still and showing her cooter anyways to get a good picture of it.

I like the spin on this...say a criminal hears the click of the cameraphone and now kills the innocent bystander who was just taking a pic to help police catch the dip.

what's worse...a perv taking a pic of some ladies ass or murder????

Land of the "free"...yeah right!

I this country is getting more and more dictated by the government. Before you know it they'll be forcing us to place RF ID's in our skin. What happened to freedom. Can't say anything without offending someone, can't pray without being talked about and now can't even take a picture without the government making laws for that too. Some law enforcement agencies give awards for helping crack cases or by witnessing crime in progress. What a better tool than a cell phone. Now if I take a pic of a crime and it makes a click, I can see it now. "click" Thug: đŸ‘ŋ "Hey get that guy, he took our picture!" Me: 👀 "Ah I'm a dead man"
Oh no, the criminal's rights have been violated!!

Yeah, I see where you are going with this...
Exactly....on a practical note...Grandma and Grandpa want to take a picture of the sleeping baby..CLICK!!!!

WAAAAAAWWWWWWAAAAA - Great..How can our government waste time on laws this stupid! Congress is a disgrace.
...
It does infringe on our civil liberties however minor. It just makes me angry that they are passing laws like this while our economy is in the dumps and there are much, much more pressing issues, such as 2 wars we are currently engaged in.

Maybe this isn't so bad....

My phone has a "SAY CHEEZE!" shutter sound, and every single time the women I'm taking pictures of find it hilarious and decide not to press charges.

how dumb

So when I'm in a meeting at work with the phone in my pocket and on vib or silence, it'll still make a noise when it accidently pushes the camera shortcut key (which happens a lot to me). I guess it's time to change my BB shortcut key... but what about others who have a regular phone with that shortcut key on the side?
i think i will start setting my ring tone to camera click!

how idiotic. next they will require your phone to play the fallowing message. "warning a picture has been taken. if you have not connected please contact the nearest law enforcement immedi...

Your phone doesn't have a "lock" feature to prevent the phone from responding to accidental button presses??? I lock my phone when I put it in my pocket or in my purse.
...
What's really dumb is that there is no law that requires digital *cameras* to make a noise when they take a picture.

Mine doesn't, at least.

🙄
...
Privacy...the reason they are making this law is so that if you take a picture people will know. How many websites are out there that are about taking upskirt pics etc. There was even one guy who went so far as to crawl on the floor to take these pic...

Wow This Nitwit is a!

At first I thought this was some hair brained California Democrats idea, but it ain't, this dumb assed law has no-cosponsors and is from Peter King Republican Congressman from NY.

Maybe someone got some photo's of him that he doesn't want?
Another republican who want to waste our time with dumb ****.

Insted of "click" how about " HEY I JUST TOOK A PICTURE!!"

then everyone in the room would know..

but seriously waste of time..

phones will comply for a while then we'll forget all about it..

Oh and btw its not illegal to take public pictures so WTF!?! second what about digital cameras.. you know normal cameras. do they need announcements?

F-ing ridicules..

but to each his/her own.

also there should really make phone announce that you opened your pic application.. "HEY IM GUNNA TAKE A PIC!! , hide your ass cracks and make sure your titties aren't falling out!"

Easy to get around

I don't know about how your phones are, but the last 8 camera phones I've had all had an accessible speaker that the camera noises would come from.

Someone can simply muffle the speaker with their thumb and a little bit of pressure and the semi-distant "target" wouldnt even hear it.

In conclusion, this bill seems like the biggest waste of time and money ever.
Every cell phone can be hacked, every murder weapon can be hid, there are ways around everything. The point isn't to prevent every case. And no the war in Iraq was the biggest waste of money ever. Honestly this bill will probably not pass but it wil...

Mandated GPS tracking and Atomic clocks

Maybe the next step will be to require live interactive GPS and atomic clocks so they can regulate when and where you can take pictures with your camera.
Technically those features are already on your phone.
