What about us?

Why not consider upgrading the REST of the network to 3G before worrying about upgrading the speeds?
It's the same reason cable companies increase internet speeds when Verizon deploys FIOS in an area. Competition pushes progress.

Well, this aint bad.

Considering Wimax competition, and T-Mo's supposedly fast 3g network, it's not bad to see att go from 1.8 to something useful like 7.2.

However, all their handsets so far have been 3.6hsdpa capable only. Also no video calling (wtf).
The Fuze is 7.2 capable. I'm guessing the beginning of the 2nd qtr next year all they're new handsets will be 7.2 HSPA capable.

Sprint WINS!

So sprint is 2 years ahead in 4g. Sprints 3g network according to the newest report from gizmoto is already the fastest. And we already knew ww had the best data services and data plans and huge coverage areas. So with the top 3 carriers dropped calls being within 1% of each other the difference is in the data.... Sprint wins
nub, no one cares about sprint.
But, with no money to roll it out, they will lose, again.
I speed tested an HTC Touch Pro from Sprint standing in the exact same spot w/ an HTC Fuze from AT&T and the speed I got from dslreports.com/mspeed in the mobile browser got me an average of 283 kbps on the Sprint phone vs. 986 kbps w/ the AT&T Fuze.....

Competition is great!!!

I just want to thank Clearwire/Sprint for pushing these guys with WiMax. What was Verizon forecasting for their LTE plans initially? 2012? AT&T? 2014? WiMax becomes a reality and not a fairytale and suddenly Verizon says 2009. AT&T 2010. Hmmmm... No matter who your carrier is...consumers win when providers have to compete against each other.
yep, except when mergers happen.

the awesome alltel touch pro is gonna be trumped by the terrible vzw touch pro.
