Verizon LTE

Verizon and Vodafone (Largest Wireless Carrier in the World which owns half of Verizon Wireless)

Says it should be all throught the US and Europe within 2015.

Verizon will start it within the next 3 years.

There EVDO Rev A service covers 95% of the Service Area.

AT&T is like 35%.. maybe less.

Verizons blackberrys have EVDO Rev A support!
AT&Ts have EDGE which is Verizons 1xRTT service.

Yea the Bold has 3G, but if you travle, dont count on having 3G everywhere you go.
With the Alltel and Unicel merge, Verizon will be updating ALL towers to Digital and EVDO Rev A.

A LOT of people dont know that Verizon has CDMA/GSM phones. so you get the SAME coverage in other countries with Verizon as you do AT&T.

So you get MORE wit...

The GSM roaming will be for overseas use and is limited to a couple phones at best at this point. Do you really think T-Mob and AT&T are going to allow them to roam on their GSM networks domestically? Doubt it.

And as far as EDGE being equal to 1...

ATT hasn't really implemented 3G yet

So why would they even think about the next stage. In Washington DC, coverage is poor, speeds, are better on Edge.
Wow, that's sad. I live in Las Vegas, speeds vary drastically!!!! Sometimes I get lucky and get 1.8mbps, sometimes even bursts above 2mbps, but by and large average more like 900kbps and 1.1mbps. It vary's a lot, it really does.

I just hope ATT ups...

Seriously. If they don't want Sprint calling their Xohm network 4G, then I believe they shouldn't call their HSPA network 3G since it doesn't really provide 3G speeds.
...
Thats because At&t doesn't give you a continuous high speed connection. They use burst speeds to make people think they are surfing the web fast. Its more like 2.5G.

This is just another example of the 'everyones out to make a buck' philosophy.
Someone earlier mentioned 3G speeds in Europe were much faster than here, of course. We're always behind the curve. Because everyones more concerned about making a buck th...

Lame...

So basically AT&T is trying to divert attention from:

1) The fact that their 3G network is few and far between, and that speeds on it are cookin' if they match EvDO...
2) ...let alone WiMAX. 'nuff said. Sprint is rolling out 4G (live with it) tech now and AT&T isn't. It's that simple.
3) The problem of LTE still eing vaporware, and continuing to be that way for awhile yet. Plenty of WiMAX deployments, zero LTE.
4) Their HSPA network needs to get decent coverage before embarking on another tech upgrade. EvDO on Sprint\VZ\Alltel has plenty enough of a base to start on a 4G upgrade plan. ATT 3G...doesn't.

As usual, AT&T is trying to cover themselves as people, out from under the glow of the iPhone Reality Distortion Field, realize that...

Well, damn. I was going to say something like this but I couldn't have writen anything better myself.

Well said.
lol... AMEN.
Thing is that VZ (and Alltel by proxy should the merger go through) has also announced that LTE will be their 4G upgrade path as well. Makes sense since Vodafone has also announced this for Europe as far as I know.

Seems this is the same old stuff...
