Sprint Biding Time on Possible iDEN Network Sale
Nextel hurt Nextel not Sprint.
Nextel knew they were selling. So what do they do? Open up the market to anyone and 100 dollar max deposits. Who could resist? 96,000 new subscribers in one month alone. I hate to say it but the clientele attracted to this was less than impressionable. Enter Sprint and unwittingly they absorb the baggage. Ethically speaking, Sprint had no choice but to eliminate the dirt. it's cheaper to cancel a contract than be stuck with unpaid bills. While Sprint should've been aware of all this, it doesn't change the fact what Nextel did. It is unfortunate. I totally believe this was a sellout to the commited subscriber base. No one can even come close to Direct Connect. But to survive, they would have to focus on who the essential users are.
Nextel has always had low deposits. Before the merger we were putting people into phones anywhere from $100 to $250 per line. After the merger we were putting people into phones between $150 and $300 a line. Not so much of a difference. Sprint has...

I You Read The Full Article It Says Nothing About Selling
The article clearly state that if the right offer was made. Everything is for sale at the right price even if you didn'y plan on selling. Iden better for business customers and government Sprint CDMA handles the data side. Att and Verizon know that Ptt will take off again that's why they lowerd their prices.

T-Mobile to buy Sprint/Nextel
Sprint is filing again for Chapter 11...the second time for sprint.
Nextel is what brought them out of the hole the first time.
Sprint is supposed to be offering no contracts in dec right before christmas as I last attempt to save whatever they have left.
On the brighter side T-mobile put a offer in to purchase Sprint/Nextel.
If this happens T-mobile will be one of the biggest Cell phone companies in the US overnight.

What would this mean for Nextel and Boost Mobile customers? Would they not be part of Sprint anymore? Are they looking to sell iden assets? Are they looking to sell Boost and Nextel? Any ideas?

Yes I agree, Nextel should have bought a carrier and got bigger that way. Nextel has always made some good phones. I have been with Nextel for over 10 years. I remember when people was not even able to get a phone with Nextel many years ago.
