Anti-trust...here we come...

As cool as this is for Verizon and Alltel...well Verizon, I am wondering if this is going to be approved. Verizon will now have the most subscribers as well as the largest net work (if I am not mistaken, Alltel had the largest network geographically). This isn't exactly going to hurt AT&T, but it's definitely going to kill any real competition, don't you think?

Sprint, the company I work for, is no where near that many subscribers. T-Mobile is in the same boat and I almost don't think there is any chance that the two companies could ever really catch up. Do you think this will be approved? And if it is, do you think it will hurt any future mergers, such as the earlier reported Sprint and T-Mobile? I mean if any other major provider buys a...

this would probably be the last merger of two large cell companies should it be passed which it probably will...
It should be approved but without major considerations and divestitures. Currently, they overlap by around 15%. This will hurt competition because of roaming fees will go up especially if Verizon has control.
...
Are we all forgetting about the SBC/BellSouth/AT&T merger & acquisition already? That put a 70 million subscriber joint venture under one roof (VZW still has 2 parent companies to please) and consolidated masses of wire-line Long Distance and Local p...

...
you really did call this one. Im surprised it happenend this fast. Kinda crazy. 2009 is going to be a very interesting year for vzw.

And does this mean we might get the charcoal curve like alltel has, πŸ™‚

PLEASE IM CONFUSED?

does this mean that alltel will be getting better phones like the ones verizon has? and will they be getting better coverage? explain this to me.
3 things. 1, VZW will save money on roaming which they can pass on to customers in a number of initiatives. 2. The phone portfolio should get better and they will combine the two together. 3. Coverage should get better but in the rural areas.
...
If this passes approval, Alltel essentially goes away. There will be a turnover period where they'll need to convert billing systems, sell off spectrum in overlapping regions, and Altell contracts expire. Anyone renewing a contract will have to pick...

Where do they overlap?

Anyone know in what markets they overlap? I only know of the Upper Ohio Valley where Verizon has only been a short time.
There are vast areas of the Upper Midwest that include Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, and Montana where residents have only a choice of Alltel or Verizon Wireless for wireless service. Sprint has some of these areas, but with covera...

CAGE MATCH ONE NIGHT ONLY!!!!

If there are any half witted people in the marketing department they should have a commercial announcing the merger where Test Man and Chad meet in the ring.
That would eb great but I doubt it. Verizon would never lower themselves eto Alltels level of "degrading the competition" but still a great idea.

Take your crappy pic....

we're gonna have like one or two cell phone companies in the future. it's just gonna be like high speed internet service. chose your method of torture. comcast or at&t. where's the competition? where's the savings? it's all about monopoly. who wins in the end of it all? sure as heck aint the consumer. when verizon or at&t wireless are done buying each other up. WHO ARE YOU GOING TO PORT YOUR NUMBER OVER TO WHEN THEY SCREW YOU OVER? Shame on you ALLTEL for selling out!
Settle down. There's still going to be 4 major carriers, plus plenty of regional carriers to keep the big boys on their toes. Phone prices really haven't gone up that much over the past five years, and if anything we are now getting more features fo...

att should just buy sprint at this point

I don't want to see the evil empire rise again !! i rather have att buy out sprint.. isn't up for sale ne way ??
No! Enough with the buyouts. This is going to kill competition and lead to higher prices. Next thing we are going to hear is that AT&T will go after TMobile.
...
Any publicly traded company is up for sale but the regulators would never approve such a deal without major divestitures. There would be divestitures from this VZ/Alltel potential deal.

T-mobile USAΓƒΒ’Γ’β€šΒ¬β„’s DT might buy out Sprint. I think ...

God help us all.....

so much for competition. what's next....sprint? monopoly at it's finest. 🀨
Probably on the DT takeover of Sprint. This will just make T-Mobile that much farther behind the big guys, so if they want to become the biggest and best, they will have to do this. It'll put them at or close to the same customers VZW has with their a...

I work in an Alltel callcenter and we were told to dust off our resume. 😲 What does this mean?
Your fired.

Holy God, no...

There's no way I'm carrying a crappy Verizon phone with its sluggish UI... no way in hell...

They better keep the two as separate entities, because without Alltel, I have no options left.
They will merge as one πŸ™‚

what about alltels premier agents

what will become of all the premier agents stores that strictly sell alltel but are not alltel corporate owned.
I think it will depend on how many Authorized Agents corporate verizon will allow???
they will implant bombs in all the stores and blow them up at 4:20am tomorrow morning. 😈

RIP Sprint Nextel

I would think that this all but buries them, with the spectrum that verizon is getting from this I would think that it would probally end both vzw and alltel's roaming agreements with sprint which is revenue loss, I almost wonder if this Jumpstarts the stale DT buying sprint rumors, I have seen a number of GSM CDMA hybrid phones enter the market lately usually where there's smoke...........

evil empire strikes again..

So Last year in vzw took a beating again net add with att. so they had to take drastic changes .. i just hope hope att comes back with vengence.
Wonder if this makes AT&T think about trying to enter talks with T-Mobile or a lot of small market companies. You know the won't let Verizon Wireless be on top for long.
took a beating..hahahah ah no! 🀣

The cult is growing!

I had a feeling "Circle of friends" Was something Verizon would take interest in.

Well good luck to you Alltel people and don't drink the koolaid because you are not leaving, even if you are welcome to anytime. πŸ‘€
