Strange Icon on my Bold

About a week ago a new icon showed up at the top of my screen. It's a circle with an arrow pointing to the seven o'clock position and a 1 beside it. Dose ANYONE have any ideas what this is?? I've been to two ATT stores and they don't have a clue.

Need some help and thanks so much in advance.

FD
I'm shocked no one replied to your post, and you may have a new phone now, but that Icon you got was the App World Icon. It pops up when there's a new download for an app

Elegant feature of Black Berry Bold 9000

Overture:
The company at the back of the BlackBerry is Research in Motion (RIM). In 1999, The first BlackBerry phone was launched and since then, several pleasant models have been appeared in the market. The current BlackBerry product portfolio now endeavors at a broader target group of regular consumers. The BlackBerry Bold 9000 smartphone has obviously taken more than one thing into account.

Impression:
IThe BlackBerry Bold 9000 smart phone appears in a simple black box with the BlackBerry logo as the only enrichment on the outside. The included accessories are a headset, a data cable and a battery charger. Unfortunately, there is no software CD included; the software is available for download on the BlackBerry Internet site. Screens?

Would anyone comment as to whether or not the screens on these are durable?

Thanks
Pretty much but I would recommend using a screen protector.

New BlackBerry for AT&T

Does anyone know if there is a new BlackBerry coming out this year for AT&T?
I want to get the Bold but if there is a new one coming out I may wait!
Thanks
I imagine that the curve 8900 will arrive at AT&T within a few months, but that one doesn't have 3g, but it does have a better camera (3.2 mp) compared to the Bold's 2.0 mp. It also is smaller. I've heard that the speakers (for the speakerphone) are n...

trouble with media connections/ moving files

I have updated to the latest Desktop Manager (4.7) with Media Manager, and I can connect the Bold to my PC and synchronize successfully. However, neither Media Manager nor Media Sync are able to connect to the Bold. They prompt for password if it happens to be locked, and the Sync app says it's having difficulty and asks if I want to retry, which doesn't work. The manager app simply doesn't show the device. What's going on? I've tried with mass storage mode on or off. I've tried Desktop Manager 4.6 and I've tried without the media apps to connect (I'm used to a WinMo devie that shows the storage card as a drive on the PC, and I just drag and drop - seems Blackberry doesn't like that idea). I've tried writing to the storage card directly, but...

MOVIES ON THE BB?

Where can I get movies for viewing on bb? I have a 4gb micro card slamming in and ready go. What do I do and where can I go? Any programs to take dvd movies and "shrink" to file to view on BB? I know there is a way! Share the knowledge!!!
You need to get a program to rip the dvd's you own. I use Cucosoft iPod Video Converter to create a .mp4 file. I then use a program called Blackberry Video to convert it to fit in the blackberry screen. I know some people use other programs. Since...

Blackberry Bold for Sprint

Rumor has it that Sprint has the Bold on the way. It was originally announced in January that is would be first quarter. Obviously, we are in the second quarter and the hearsay is it may be released this summer.
Does anybody know anything about concrete release dates?
From what I understand it will be the "Blackberry Niagara" and it will come somewhere in the 3rd quarter or more generally in the second half of 2009.

Blackberry Bold & Uncaught Exception (Java) Error

Hey all:

On day 3 w BB Bold, I exp'd an "uncaught exception java.lang.nullpointerexpection" error. Anyone heard of this error and phone failure?

It's a REFURBISHED phone. But I learned affects all BB OS. Starts w losing WiFy signal, then the screen began to brighten on its own, and then froze. ATT store rep saw this error and looked it up, and said is an OS problem and phone would have to go back back. But ATT tel reps say differently. It finally resolved after several resets.

In search on the net, error seems related to some type of conflict with saved SIM contacts and the program mgr/ Outlook contacts.

I like the phone, but this error is troubling. Anyone have exp with this error? Should I not synch my phone w PC? W BB Mgr? W O...

Bold switching from 3G to EDGE, and back to 3G

Has anyone else experienced this while browsing the internet with the Bold? I was told by tech support to have it exchanged, but this one is doing it too?
I think they all do it...3g is not everywhere so it has to do it if 3g is not available. A big problem is when it switched when you're on a call and it drops the call...AT&T is aware of this and I think they are working on a fix.
I think it has something to do with an id10t error on your part.

Do I require a data plan to access Wi-fi?

I am wanting to get the BB Bold and access email and internet using wi-fi at home and work. I don't really need it while on the road. I am wondering if I can access wi-fi service without needing a subscription to at&t's data plan. Anyone know?
From my experience, yes you can use your Wi-Fi enabled device free of charge from home or at work.
Yes.
I have the 8320 now with WiFi and only have my little $39.99 plan.
No data plan. Use Wifi at my apt and on campus.
Unfortunately, if you wish to purchase either the Bold, HTC Fuze, or the i-Phone; the WI-FI will not work without the corresponding data plan. at&t has locked out wi-fi access unless you subscribe to the data package

Synchronization questions???

Hi,

First BB and love it, but the synchronization is so much longer and tedious than Active Sync.
Am I doing something wrong? All I want to do is update any changes made to either the device or Outlook.

Thanks
Don't know what you mean - I use Desktop Manager, you can set it up to automatically synch with outlook. Once you get everything set up and have done the first synch, I would say it takes only about a minute to synch, maybe even less.

Call history only 20 ???????

I just got the Bold, switching from Verizon. I am very surprised and hope I'm missing something here, but is there only a call history memory of the last 20 calls?

Thanks,
Go to Messages, press the menu button then go to View Folder > Phone Call Logs. It keeps all calls (incoming, outgoing and missed calls) for as long as you have your BB to save messages.

tethering

hey guys,

sorry for such a simple question but i'm a new blackberry user..just got the bold and read forums about people tethering it to there laptop to go online...can this be done without the additional tethering package or you have to pay extra for it?

any help is appreciated...thanks
I will give you the official ATT answer, and that is that you will need to sign up for the Blackberry tethering plan at $60 per month. This will give you unlimited internet usage on the phone and unlimited tethering for using your phone with the comp...

Hey everyone. So I haven't been able to receive any emails since Friday. I was wondering if anyone else has had these issues. If not, is there anyway to check what's going on either on the ATT Blackberry website where you set up your emails or do I need to call ATT. Thanks.

Upgrade OS Question

Ok, so I have been trying to install the .219 update to my Bold and it won't upgrade. I downloaded the upgrade and I am just connecting my Bold to my PC,I don't have desktop manager, and clicking open the installer and it says that it is running and then it is done in like 5 minutes but when I check the software version on the Bold it says that it is still on .167. Am I doing something wrong? Can someone explain the process please. Thanks.
Is .219 the "package version"? Is so, the package version is different the the application version. I just checked on Blackberry, and while there is an update version 4.6.0.298, that package still contains the OS .167
