Iphone 3gs gets text and phone works but No INTERNET

I unlocked the phone in april and have the latest os and use an at&t sim that has worked for four months and use the straight talk service from walmart. I could use wifi no problem but outside of that it has a message of unable to connect to server. I went to network under settings and it shows vpn not apn. Does that mean that at&t sent an update that locked the phone again? I went to unlockit.co.nz and like the first time thought after I deleted the old info and added the new apn info it would work but no luck. Any thoughts or suggestions? I am a non techie so if you can explain in a simple way that would be great! Thank you!

Is the 3GS still relevant?

Like, does it still work and will it still be great in a few years if I buy one now?

Iphone 3GS Can you use it with "Straight talk"

Is there a way to use the 3gs iphone with straight talk which is 45 dollars or everything which is run through walmart. If so how would you go about it do you need some sort of hardware ie sim card and from who? at what cost? A software update or fix to change the carrier from at&t to straight talk? Will the speed go down because of it being a different network or is it the same type of network? Thank you.

Email help

Today, my Yahoo email was hacked. I logged in and changed my pw and since then, when I go to Mail on my phone under settings, several options are grayed out (the first 4). Any idea how this happened or how I can get it fixed?

Vibrate button

Here lately, I've noticed my phone vibrating in my pocket. So, thinking I'm getting a text or call, I take it out of my pocket to check. No messages or calls. Then, I noticed that I can barely touch the vibrate button on the side and the vibration goes on and off repeatedly, even while it's still in the down position (turned off). Is the button damaged, or is there something else I can do to fix it?

Saving apps after an HD Wipe

So, a while ago, I wiped my HD disc clean. It was catastrophic failure mode, and needed to give it a good scrubbing... I didn't really have a whole lot of "Gee, I should save this" time before it happened.

Thus, everything that's on my Iphone is more or less an orphan. There's no files on my computer whatsoever. I had to redownload Itunes, so there's no memory whatsoever of anything essentially.

The music is one thing, if that can't be salvaged, so be it. I had that backed up elsewhere, and although it would be a pain in the butt to re-sync, there's like 2000 songs on there that I never listen to that could use a good purge anyway.

But my apps... I really have no desire to lose everything saved on them. That would make me cry.

So...

Time to upgrade. Wanting to buy the 3gs, but I don't want to change my data plan. Any sugestions?

As of right now, I am currently using a Pantech Matrix Pro. Before that, I was using a Blackjack II. My current data plan is unlimited messaging and unlimited internet usage. Can I carry this over to the 3gs? I don't want to shell out the $30 "Apple" plan. Do any iPhone users out there have any advice or stories that could help me?

Alarm when phone is off

Does the 3gs and eventually 4g have an alarm that will sound if the phone is off? I have had Blackberries and they do.

Anyone know when the release date is for the new 4.0 update??

Alright... I know there are a lot of people in these forums that work at various cellphone service retailers and have got the inside scoop on a lot of confidential info....

Does anyone know when is the ETA for the new 4.0 update? Also, the online rumor mill has been going crazy with "leaked" images and info of a new iphone 4G.... I'm sure that Apple will release a new iPhone sometime soon since they have released one every year since the original when they release the new updates. Does anyone know when the new iPhone will be on the market? I've heard rumors that Verizon is getting the iphone, but then I've heard that they need to work on their system before bringing the iphone to their line up. All I'm hearing are "rumors" and would ...

Turning off an Iphone without using the top button? Possible?

Basically, the top button on my iphone (which locks and turns on/off the phone) has ceased to work a few weeks ago. Restore done and nothing doing...

Is there a way to turn my iphone off that doesn't require using that button? I'd like to reboot the thing, as it's been searching for a signal for the last hour, but I'm not sure I can without simply draining the battery...

If anybody has any ideas, let me know. :-)
you can let the battery die... 😕

iPad

Can someone please tell me about the iPad?! I am on a closed network and cant research myself but have customers asking about it. Is it basically just a tablet pc but from apple? From what I've read/heard it almost seems like an expensive electronic book but just want to clarify.
Well if you know what an iPod touch is, just think bigger screen.

First its to late to even think about buying a 3gs. You only gave a couple more months till the iPhone HD comes out(4g) what ever you want to call it. That will have upgraded cameras etc. Your compareingg cameras on just Meg pix alone. Not good. A 5 K...

Why after enjoying REAL 3g service would you want to go to AT&T? Not to bad mouth the compitition, but aside from T-Mobile, AT&T has the smallest 3g coverage of any national carrier! If memory is an issue, get a bigger microsd card, it is expandable...

Using unlocked phone

A newbie question:

I use a simple GMS (factory unlocked) Samsung phone now with an ATT Simm card (pay as you go).

Would like to consider an iPhone 3G and would use it mostly for GPS, photos, Wi-Fi.

If I get an unlocked 3G model can I simply insert my present or another ATT simm card? (I called ATT and was told I had to go to a store to find out).

Thanks in advance for your input!

Batter Life

I am finally caving in and trying to leave Blackberry for an iPhone. Any recommendations on making battery life last? My Storm battery lasts 3x as long as the iPhone 3G S. Is there an app or something that can manage or increase battery strenght?

Thanks for any and all help!!!
There are apps that say that they manage battery life but the reviews on those are mixed. Have a car charger handy and lower your screen brightness a little. The battery on the Iphone is not bad and in my opinion and its still the best phone on the ma...

Bluetooth Voice commands

Say, do your Iphones allow Voice Commands for initiating a call over a Bluetooth headset? That always worked with all my other phones for the last several years with both Verizon and AT&T. I have accounts on both for when one network or the other is weak in an area I'm traveling in. But I have found that with my Droid on Verizon, that feature simply does not work and its not a flaw in my phone, Verizon acknowledges that it doesn't work with the Droid for some reason no one can explain. The bluetooth works for everything else on the phone including answering calls and the phone works well. But that one missing feature makes this phone illegal to use while driving in most States. I'm surprised that AT&T has not exploited that in their Ads y...
