Voice dialing?

Does the Pre offer speaker independent voice dialing?
To be honest voice control over things like the play list would be very nice but not a must have but voice dialing when using a Bluetooth headset is just to handy.
Maybe later in an update or by third party possibly

Will be purchasing Sprint Pre soon and I have some questions???

1.) Are you able to use Yahoo!! instant messenger?

2.) I heard some people saying that the phone wiggles a little bit at the slide. Is this true for all of them of just some?
1) Yes

2) a tiny wiggle but still feels very solid - hardly noticeable.
...
You might want to wait a little bit to purchase this phone from Sprint. Since Verizon is releasing a better version of it, perhaps Sprint will be forced to drop the price a little.
🤨 Well I have the pre since June six and it doesnt do that.

Palm Pre Plus (Verizon)

So Verizon's version of the Palm Pre will be out soon, and it will have double the flash memory (16GB) and double the RAM of Sprint's version. Do you guys think Sprint will get the new version of the phone too? Was thinking about upgrading my phone to the Pre, and I'd hate to buy it if they will be offering an improved version of it soon.

Just switched to Sprint and bought the Pre! Questions!

I love love love the phone, and I was a die hard Blackberry boy for four years! But, there is a few things I don't like about the Pre and need help correcting it. One thing is the contacts options. I linked my facebook contacts and it puts all 297 friends in my contact list. I only want SOME of them to show up because I don't call but about 60 of them, but it won't let you delete them one at a time, it's either all or nothing. Same with my email. I have about 97 email addresses in my gmail and it pulls all of them into my contact list as well. Like I said, I ONLY want the contacts that I call in my contact list. Is there anyway to fix this? Also, where can I download some good ringers? It only lets me listen to them on zedge.net, n...

I will be getting my Palm Pre in about a week and these are good questions. I would love to have the answers to this also. Thanks for bringing this up as I was very unaware of this contact list issue. Also for ringtones, I use a site on my blackberry ...

in regards to the facebook - no way to pick contacts to import. as for gmail - try putting the contacts you want imported to your phone under the "my contacts" group in the gmail contacts tab. some people have said this works. if you want to make y...

Here's what I found.

Universal search is the best way to access contacts. Scrolling through the list is a waste of time, they're only there so all your information is in one place. Any time you want to text, call, message, or view a contact- jus...

HELP! trouble syncing contact info

I just got my Pre thursday and I'm having trouble with it syncing all my gmail, outlook and facebook contacts. On my blackberry pearl my facebook info use to sync right away and would show the person's picture from facebook. Does anyone know how to make the phone update with this info?
If you have the ability, I would go to your nearest Sprint store, they have connectors there that can move contacts from other phones. They did this with my Blackberry 8900, and they also were able to sync my GMail contacts.

As far as sync with Ou...

pre VZW

so now that they tweeted that it will actually be available on vzw in early 2010 I gotta make a decision. I've never had a pda on any network. I am on vzw now with a flip phone. I'm test driving the Pre on Sprint now and really like it, and all the 3rd party apps and all. I still think the vzw network has better coverage in my area... and honestly I don't care about the plan price difference. My main concern about waiting on the pre for verizon is whether they will cripple the crap out of it and stop me from getting all those delicious 3rd party apps. anyone with experience on this matter please let me know.
The Pre out on Verizon (and I assume Sprint too) in early 2010 will be an updated version to the phone that is out now. That alone may be worth the wait on any network you choose.

As far as "crippling" of apps is concerned, Verizon has already stat...

Thank you for the notification for VZW to release the Pre. Have you heard of a delivery date? Early meaning the 1st or 2nd quarter of 2010.

Now I'm really confused about which phone I want to get when my new-every-two comes in Feb of this year.

Pre On Board Keyboard

Ok so I like my PRE very very much but I would LOVE it if it had on board keyboard, does anyone know if palm will make this happen?
It sucks when you want to respond to a text with "ok" and you have to slide the phone up to do ALOT of stuff....
If you go to youtube and search for videos for Palm Pre virtual keyboard, it will show you how to get one. Unfortunatly at this time I don't think that Palm itself has stated anything about making this feature come standard with the phone.

Search app for calendar?

I had a Palm Treo and was able to search my calendar to see when an event was to occur. To my disappointment, 😢 the Pre does not have this feature. Is there an app that will allow a calendar seach? Looking!
Yes there is an app. It's called Google Calendar Search. It only searches google calendars only. I hope this helps.

Looking for a workaround for the wireless sync function on a Palm Pre

Any opinions on Chapura WebOS sync software or alternate suggestions on any better 3rd party sync software for WebOS? I don't want any of my "private" data being wirelessly uploaded and stored on an online server such as Google, Yahoo or Palm. So, I'm looking for a viable workaround to cutoff any back up function other than to a designated laptop or desktop of my choice.

Memory

It is my understanding that the full 8 GB of internal memory can not be used for storing apps. However, I think there is a way to increase this.

Can anyone provide me with information as to how to increase the amount of memory available for apps?

What are some of the most useful/best apps for the Pre?

Thanks.

Text Forwarding - battery life -

I am new to the palm...

Are you able to forward text messages?

Does the new upgrade increase battery life?

Are there any other issues I should know before buying this phone? Is Palm Pre better than an Android phone like Hero?
the upgrade does help with battery life, as will the upcoming webos update (coming around 11/15)

You have to install a homebrew app loader (preware) to get the patch to forward msgs

anything else you wanna know?
