This makes sense...

I heard about a month ago that Sprint was stopping its development of a device that would allow you to use a cell phone off of a broadband internet for low coverage areas. If just make a phone and add a fee, that would help a lot of thier customers.

who's gonna be first?

so who is going to be the first to jump on this, VZW, Sprint or (God forbid) alltel?

Sprint could make a big gain by building this off of Wimax once it rolls out, VZW could add it to the LTE platform, and does Alltel even have anything working right now?

That would be completely awesome - although, sadly, I imagine that even if Verizon starts offering it, they'll charge an arm and a leg for it...
