ATT & VZW Lawyers?

ATT and VZW can usually get way with anything because they have good lawyers! I wonder how this would pan out!!! Would ATT and VZW team up against NTP to crush them? πŸ˜‰

Any opinions?
I do not think so because patent issues usually want to be squashed by settlement. Even though there are very good lawyers in the companies who are being sued I don’t think that it would happen if they would let it go all the way to trial. The threa...

As much as I dislike Verizon and Sprint and T-Mo, all of the carriers need to band together and squash this company without mercy. 😎

This industry will band togeather on any issue that effects it as a whole, you can add Sprint, Tmobile and I'm sure the large MVNO's too.

Mixed feelings about patent lawsuits (Then more direct at NTP and their suit)

I have a few mixed feelings about kind of patent lawsuits because the US Patent Office granted the patents in order for the products and/or solutions to protect and to be launched with a fair price. I think patents are key but it is ridiculous when companies sue each other for patent infringement even if they might not own the patent and/or if they want to challenge it. These lawsuits just hurt consumers and not really, the companies involved.

NTP is a patent holder and obviously, they won the Rimm lawsuit because the latter settled with the former and I think we will see the same situation happen in NTP’s lawsuit against the cellular companies. I think there should be patent reform because I think it is just horrible for injunction threa...

I think CTIA or the major telco's should lobby congress for patent reform,

I agree that patent holders should be protected when they actually develop their patent.

The problem with NTP and a number of other companies like NTP is that they patent concepts, usually very broad and undefined which are open to interpretation.

My gut feeling is NTP knows that it's patent camping days are numbered (as the Judge is reviewing it's patents) and is trying to get it's last big score before it actually has to work for a living. Once the patents are ruled invalid NTP will more tha...

Out of curiousity...

...does NTP actually do anything? Or do they just go around suing other companies?

Nope, nor to they even invent or produce anything, they are simply a holding company that makes money exploiting the U...

GREED

This company has done a wonderful job making their product work for them, find any little way that other people are using something similar and sue under their same patent. Way to bring your stockholders money, 100% through lawsuits. CHEAP GREEDY BASTARDS!!!!!!!!!!!

This kind of thing makes me sick...

If you read the full story, you'll find that a judge has thrown out the NTP patents, basically rendering the lawsuits useless. Of course, NTP has appealed that ruling and until the appeal is over, the original patents still stand and NTP can sue the ...

i think its funny how

NTP just keeps suing these large companies like its a contest, meanwhile what has come from them?
What do they even do?
They say they have the patents. It may be true or not true but usually companies will settle so they will get quick money. They did with Rimm. Threatening injunction is not carried well by the companies involved. You saw what happened to Broadcom and ...

Me too

Wow. That really sucks for those carriers. I feel their pain, though. NTP is currently suing me because I use wireless devices, and I also use email. I'm probably not going to win this one.

Moral of the story: Don't offer email. Ever. At least not without giving NTP some money first.

CHEAP BASTARDS

everyone wants easy money and suing people in this country is the easiest way... get some crooked lawyers (that have no morals) in a room offer them 15% of the winnings and you got yourself a lottery whose odds are how much the judge likes your lawyers. 🀣 hurray for USA! thats what i call capitalism 😁

You gotta be kidding me

We have the worst patent system in the world. If these schmucks get more money for something they never actually did I'll be sick.
