MP3 ringtones?

there are many reasons why i'm unhappy with both my current carrier and phone. one surprise i don't want again, is getting a phone that DOESN'T allow mp3 ringtones. so, does the g1 have that capability?
i'm sure, being an open platform, even if it doesn't out of the box, someone would have created a app for it, but i've assumed before, and we all know where that gets us...
well, let me off by bringing up my impatience, then i can follow up with, i've found the answer to my question. in fact, i found a nifty app called ringdroid that i could even edit my own from my mp3's.
thx everyone (i would thank myself, but it woul...

Navigation on the G1

Hey, all.

I have a question about the navigation available thru google. Does it have the capability to give you turn-by-turn directions with voice? or does it just show you a map like a Thomas Guide would?

Thanks in advance,

P.
As far as I know it doesnt have turn by turn dircetions. I know that a few companies are working on it for this phone, but dont hold your breath. I doubt Google would allow them to put their applications on your phone.

Just got my G1 and have a question...

Sorry if this is a dumb question. I just got my G1 today. I ditched my Iphone 3g for it(90 bucks a month is nuts for a phone bill) My question is can the G1 play my Itunes songs? Thanks for any answers.
If u bought the music on itunes chances r no. Well at least my g1 didn't play them. Itunes has their music protected bcuz they're pieces of ****. 👿

Good Battery Anyone?

I was wondering if I am the only lucky person to have a normal working battery? So far the ones I have sold have not had issues either. I am averaging about 10 - 12hrs of juice. That includes using my phone to demonstrate the G1's features. The only time I really dump a lot of juice is when I demonstrate StreetView. Other then that, I have been charging my phone once a day (at night before bed) and it has been just fine.

I am in the P.A area, anyone else out there get themselves a good amount of juice out of the battery? I think the battery issue may only be a issue with the battery itself. Maybe there was a bad batch? Im reaching, i know, but i dont know what else to think. After all, my whole shipment works fine...so far.
I'm convinced that its not bad batteries but bad chargers. I've read on some forums of people using Blackberry chargers and getting longer battery life. I'm doing some tests with my blackberry charger to see if it changes anything.

alot of talk

being an iphone 3G user i can admit im kind of spoiled when it comes to phones. when the G1 was first advertised, i thought street view was the coolest thing id ever seen, but with the recent iphone update bringing street view to the ever growing iphone repetoir, the G1 has nothing more to offer thats new. the phone also lacks the "sleekness" that we all expect from the new big thing. yeah, its a great phone, and all the iphone haters now have a comperable alternative, but its no better than apples home run.

p.s. the keybored kind of sucks, but is still there, so i cant complain
The G1 brings to the plate a brand new operating system. More choices are always a good thing for consumers.

For some getting the iphone is not an issue of love or hate for the phone itself. It can be just as much about the network it's on. I won't...

Come on SCOOP

Why would you put the white version of the phone if on the 22nd it won't be an option to choose from...won't even be an option this year
Actually, the white G1 version will be available in stores on the Oct 22nd. It just wasn't available for pre-order. It will also be available online on the 22nd.

I like the white one the best and wish I could get it now. I ordered the bronze. I read that the white paint chips and peels:

Not bad for a new phone AND OS being out on the market for a limited amount of time. 😁
I'd believe it we've been selling a ton of them and we are a slow store. They are a hot phone right now with only room for growth.

This phone is a joke big waste of time

If u get this phone prepare yourself for serious buyers remorse. This is a phone full of cant do this cant do that. Hard to use keyboard, slow speeds, lacks many standard features. Even street view is slow. Smart buyers beware. 👀
Shut up, you have already proved in past threads you have no idea what your talking about.

Wow, I really enjoyed your lack of detail on how I (a buyer who would love this phone), and explain the "can't do this can't do that", it does more than what the iPhone does, just no camera options or flash.
