Verizon's standardized interface

....enough said.... 😛
They should change the name of the company from Verizon to "McWireless". Its the presumption that people are too stupid to figure out how a cell phone works that's so annoying. Plus robbing the consumer of something cell phone companies know how to ...

Well, it certainly lends itself to familiarity, but who wants to look at the same interface with each phone he purchases?
...
Both of these phones have samsung's flash UI. I'm sure the verizon menu is in there, but the default is much different.
...
Why does everyone bitch about the damn standardized interface. JESUS! I really could give a rat's ass about how the menu is layed out as long as the damn phone works, and I get good reception. That's all you hear every time a new handset is released...

MS windows runs almost every PC.. shouldnt you complain about that?

Now MS is getting into cell phones...

Imagine the day MS is on allmost all cell phones and we look back and wish we had our verizon interface..

Point is verizon's interface ...

Will the U-740 have tv?

I just bought the lg 9900 and I am thinking of returning it for the U-740 I would love to have tv.

I read one article that said it wont. I am confused. Does anyone know if it will have tv?
No the U740 will not have TV. It will only have V-cast Video/music only.

Who cares???

So what? Sprint's new TV service will offer twice the content, just like their Power Vision does. VCAST is lame...all you can do is video clips, no streaming music, no satellite music..boring. Then you have to deal with their universal interface which takes away alot of cool features embedded in their phones. All this combined with high data rates, limited bluetooth capabilities..leaving Verizon was the best thing I've done. Sprint has the best multimedia experience..hands down
Can you tell me, how is your coverage with Sprint? I live in NY and everyone I know who has it has problems/sounds underwater...? They're data plans are money for the money than Verizon for sure, which is one of the reasons I'm shopping around.
...
I know but let them just be happy they get all upset when you say negative things about their precise verizon.
...
i care sprint suck in my area and verizon is better hands down...so stop hating. 👀 🤣

Great, more places for the phone to break

Maybe it's because I work at a cell phone store that caters to a lot of farmers, feed lot workers, and truckers, but that phone looks like the exact opposite of the GZone. Not that it's a bad thing, I just don't feel like selling it because it looks like most of my customers will break it. I'd rather sell the V, the 8300, or the Nokia 8315.

I'm impressed with the U740

Even though the camera is only 1.3 mp, the dual hinge and qwerty keyboard are pretty nice. Hopefully this won't be like every other Samsung camera phone and take half a year to snap a still shot.
The camera isn't that important to me.
Speaker phone is though.
I hope it has a loud clear speaker.

I'd like to know how well it will play music and if it will play video. That will determine what size M-SD card to buy. No sense in wasting money...

740 ergonomics

I like the two way hinge!
I can't wait to handle the phone. I hope my chunky thumbs work with the close/small qwerty keys. I don't like the little keys on the Treo.
Is it going to have music/video player?
Smart phone? Outlook sync?
I hope I can flick it open with my thumb, with that hinge.

Verizon fanboys, you can go nuts now. :P

Here's your excuse to officially drool and slobber all over your much dally-hooed provider. It seems they're finally trying to do something good with Data.

::pulls out hundreds of bibs and hands them out::

😁
Something good with data? VZW is the largetst DATA providing wireless company in terms of revenue

Verizon TV?!?!?!

Ok so how is this tv thing gonna work? I can't imagine the tv option will be free to use, no no that would be much to customer friendly + plus verizon wouldn't make any money. Ok i can deal with having to pay for a service, but how is this going to differ from V-cast. Am going to simply be able to tune into my local tv channels, or is it gonna be some special signal verizon sends out?
Is the 990 not going to support the TV service? If so that's garbage!!! Maybe with an update?
...
It's MediaFLO, so it operates on its own network, in its own spectrum. To be compatible, a phone must have a special extra radio chip and antenna.

It will be all live TV channels, like CNN and ESPN, etc. At the very least I do expect it to include ...

Don't text and drive! (urm)

OK so I do. All the time. Well somewhat frequently.

I have the VX8000 with large tactile keys. Makes it very easy and somewhat safe to text and drive.

Is texting and driving going to be inpractical with these tiny keys :-(

otherwise it looks nice 🙂 i hope we can add T9 words on the slider (unlike samsungs last phone)
WHAT!!!! you dont like this phone because you cant text and drive! what are you trying to kill someone. Dont text and drive what so ever, that is extremely dangerous. Where do you live so i can make sure i stay away from you lol.
