Here is an idea

If someone wants to patent something then fine. You have a finite amount of time to actually develop the product. If not, move over and let someone else do it. Its not fair to patent this and patent that, then just sit on it, hoping for some other company, who actually wants to develop it, from infringing on it. This would stop alot of these holding companies and patent trolls from suing everyone in site. S**t or get off the pot, I say.

this is getting ridiculious

did these guys ever actually make a product, or did they just sit on their patents until palm/rim's pockets got deep enough?
I never heard of NTP until the RIM lawsuit

NTP is a patent holding company. My understanding is that the patent was bought from someones estate. Also NTP as a patent hoplding company will never release products on it's own. They would however sale the rights to gain revenue. The trouble is the...

i do agree about NTP getting rediculous, i think PALM or RIM need to aquire NTP so RIM or PALM can own NTP's patents and we dont have to hear about some unknown crybaby patent company filing lawsuits for the hell of it, i know if i was in that situati...

What would it matter? You patent something so other people can't use it. If t...

Someone said it best in reference to the prior NTP suit

"When I grow up, I wanna be a patent squatter."
I don't recall who said that, but it was quite appropriate.

Who ARE these guys? 😕 Next thing ya know, they'll be sending takedown notices to webmail sites, and annoucing they're suing over that too. 🙄
Apparently Good and a few others have licensing agreements with NTP to avoid this crap. Blah - no telling how long this will be dragged out. Does Palm have the pockets that RIM does?

SOMEONE NEEDS TO TELL NTP TO EFF OFF

👿

Right after RIM settled it was declared by the U.S. Patent office itself that NTPs patent claim was weak at best.

I'm sure all the keen legal minds involved in the case will get right on i...

And until the Patent Office rejects the patents, or whatever, they are still in effect. Sucks, but what are you gonna do? Not like I own stock in any of the companies in question.

Patents 'R' Us - Rant

So it doesn't really matter what software is in the phone, NTP has the patent on "wireless email over RF". It's like someone coming out and saying "Hey, I own the patent on how a car engine works" and suing ford, then chevy, and so on. It comes down to a fine line of something being public domain or not, as RIM tried to prove. Short Message Systems SMS is used by every company. Who owns that patent? When are they coming out?

And on top of that, it obviously appears to be a get rich quick scheme now for NTP. If companies infringed upon NTP's intellectual property 6-7 years ago, why didn't they react then? Because if they waited for these other companies to establish the technology, and grow in profits, they could rake in more in the...

You said it above " get rich quick". Nothing more to say, I guess.

like i mentioned earlier, RIM or PALM should aquire NTP or split it or something.
