Voice Dial

Sorry, I should have started a new thread!

Hi:

Just went down to the AT&T store and held one of these (the Z9). All was well until I asked the salesperson to demonstrate voice dial. He could not get it to work and went to the counter to consult the Motorola Web Site. He came back with a blank look and noted Motorola did not include this feature on either the Z9 or the V9. This is a deal killer for me, but I still can't believe that a phone of this complexitivity is lacking this feature. Can anybody dispute this finding?

I did review the Z9's owner's manual on the Motorola site and it seems to imply that a headset must be used in order to use VD. Again, as I don't want to go around looking like Mr. Spock, this seems to be a de...

Sorry, I don't know what I was smoking when I created, "complexitivity", but I'm sure it was good!

Vibrate

How do i get my Moto Z9 to vibrate when I slide it to close it?!?!
the better question is, how do you get it to vibrate at all? mine does little more than make a buzzing noise. anyways, there is no setting for it.

The screen on my Z9 has been going yellow and
a message code SMS_ _ (missed the number)appears where the battery indicator is in the

Bad SIM card, battery ?

Thanks for any help.

Downloading contacts into Z9

Looking for some help. On the fence between the Z9 and Nokia 6650 Fold.

I am tied to blackberry/Outlook tandem for work and would like an easy way to transfer contacts from blackberry/Outlook to the phone. I am pretty sure the the nokia 6650 fold will synch with outlook but am doubtful the z9 has the functionality.

Any suggestions? Either a direct synch or work-around?

Z9 Alarm question

Hey on my old Razr I could hit one button and snooze and another and turn off the alarm WITHOUT disabling it. Meaning I didn't have to go back to my alarm menu and re-enable it, so if I get up at the same time everyday I can just turn it off and it's ready for the next day. Can't figure out how/if this is possible on the Z9. Anybody know??

Z9 vs. RAZR2 V9

I'm really having a hard time deciding between the Z9 Slide and the RAZR2 V9. Currently I have an L2 and it's pretty basic but it works. I've never had a slide or a flip. Background noise is really a problem with my current phone.

Any advice would be appreciated.
Well since nobody replied I went ahead and got the Z9 yesterday. So far so good, a bit heavy though.

Thanks!!

Network Question

So after resolving the great voice dial debate (thanks to all who responded), I did pick up one of these phones. Generally, I'm pleased, and, the better I learn the phone, the more I'm beginning to prefer it to my old Samsung.

Now, another question - this time network. I like to use the Opera Mini browser (it loaded fine and works well for the record), but I note that whenever I try to pull up a new web page (even after being on a site (say scrolling through CNN news stories), I get questioned, "Use Data Network" - again, EVERY time I attempt to pull up a new page. The only option that allows me to continue is, "Yes, always ask". So next time, I get the same question. Does anybody know how to program a, "Yes, don't ask again" respons...

I just picked up a Z9 today and was puzzling over the same thing.

I've installed Google Maps, and it asks for permission to use the data network only once while Opera Mini asks continuously.

I think the difference is that Opera Mini is unsigned,...

The problem is you need to install a signed Java application. unsigned java applications require network validation everytime to ensure that your phone is not compromised

Check SIM error

Anyone have a problem with their phone telling them the "Check SIM" for no apparent good reason? I've had my phone for 2 weeks and have gotten the error at least a half dozen times.

I'll just be sitting around and all of a sudden my phone will beep at me and display "Check SIM". A power cycle of the phone seems to fix the issue. What a hassle.

GPS

In the review the reviewer said that he downloaded google maps but it wouldn't work with the Z9. Does anyone know of a work around? I am not going to pay AT&T ten bucks a month for something a may only use once a month.
I have the Navigator service, but I don't think it's worth it. It makes an already short-life battery even shorter.

Go here to get google maps for your phone: http://www.google.com/mobile/gmm/stp-js.html

idk wat phone i should get the motorola z9 or the lg shine

can anyone help me decide wat phone to get AND WHY? PLEASE AND THANK U
If i had to pick from those 2 phones (the z9 or the shine) I'd definitely go with the z9. LG makes good phones but if you go to the store and look very closely at the build quality of the phone, it's less than impressive. Also, if you have the opportu...

Stuck

First off--Great review & thanks. I been anticipating this phone for some time but after I seen it and played with it some I just don't know. I have had my V3XX for about a year and a half now. Im really disappointed that the OS is virtually the same...no change in menu items etc. I'm just having difficulty with the pro's & con's. Just seems like the perfect phone will never exist lol.
i think for most people the perfect phone right now is the N95... what don't you like about the N95?

i like it.

i've played with it in our store since it released. seems moto got it right this time! i haven't noticed the signal issue but i haven't left the store with it. my main gripe is soemthing i shouldn't gripe about, and that is the java restrictions at&t puts on it's newer phones and that the programs at&t put on the phone can't be deleted, like billboard mobile, mobile tv, etc...
No signal issues here either, I'm not in a 3G area so I can't say anything about the 3G signal, but Edge signal has been fantastic.

Music as ringtones

Just as a note...you CAN use your music as a ringtone, but you have to cut it down to 29 seconds or less. I don't know why AT&T puts this limit on the phone, as "unlocked" Z9's (and RAZR2 V9's) don't have this limit. It IS possible to edit this and turn off the limit, though, but you have to know a little about modding your phone (google it, you'll find out which sites tell you how...I've done it).
Yes, the reason I couldn't use my own songs as ringtones is because they are all 4+ minutes in length.

GPS

Hi:

Does AT&T offer GPS? I didn't see it on any of their packages offered on Amazon. If so, does anyone know how much it costs?

Thanks!
Yes, its on most of their PDA devices, and this is the first non pda phone that it comes on as far as I know. Its $10/month
...
AT&T Navigator Basic: $5.99 per month per device for 10 routes
AT&T Navigator Premium: $9.99 per month per device for unlimited routes

Accessories ?

I guess you could call it a deal breaker..

I saw in a video that the top of the phone has two notches I suppose like the V9 for a belt clip..But does anyone know if that definately the case?
I really need the plastic belt clip (not a case) and have been lucky with the v3xx but would like an upgrade.

Thanks
yes. At my local att store they have a belt clip holster and a belt clip leather case
