Small transactions such as this are common between companies.
ROFLMAO! I just gobbled up all the spectrum, assets, and customers in 11 counties. But that's just a small transaction when I'm a behemoth like AT&T. Of course this transaction doesn't pose any competitive threat. Small carrier 'xyz' was never able to compete with AT&T in the first place. And of course consumers will benefit, because everyone knows that AT&T is bigger and better. And what everyone really needs is just the choice of Verizon or AT&T. So, when Verizon and AT&T want to gobble up all the competition, that's automatically in the interest of the consumer and every such transaction should just be rubber stamped.
