Ringtones?

I've been told that you can't use your own ringtones on this phone. Is this true? And if so, does Helio have some awesome ringtones to replace that?

Does anyone know if the Ocean can have custom ringtones that you make yourself?

I'm looking for a new phone and provider, but I'm really looking for ringtones I can make myself.
i own the ocean and make my own. not on the device itself (like ive seen some nokia phones have) but like cutting a song on the computer and sending it to myself....ive heard theres a way to do it on the fin as well but cant remember how exactly..

I wanted to switch to Helio but...

I wanted to switch to Helio this week but I can't. Helio wants a $350.00 deposit from me to give me an account. That is just crazy, I don't have immaculate credit but I certainly don't have horrible credit. No other provider has ever required a deposit from me at all, let alone $350.00 and I have had most of the major providers here in the US. So with this deposit, the termination fee from my current provider, the cost of the new phone and the last bill from my current provider I would be looking at close to $1000.00's just to switch to them.

You would think they would be doing whatever they can to get more customers. The employee's at local stores have also commented on losing many new customers because of this confusing high deposit.

I came across this site

which is buying out your current providers termination fee in order to switch to helio. It may not fix the deposit situation, but it at least lessens the cost $200 or so. I have an ocean and I lov...

correction

i want to note that i updated the "customize" section. it was brought to my attention after i published the review that i COULD change HOT to include my own RSS feeds. i have changed this section to reflect how this is done.
The SPH-m610 was the Ultra Range flip Sprint carried. The SPH-m620 is the Upstage.

NICE REVIEW

Maybe helio should use the slogan "raising the bar" they seem to be the ones who are setting the agenda on whats cool in a phone.

Opera Mini?

I just got my phone about 2 hours ago, and the first thing I want to do is get opera mini.

Has anyone else with this phone figured out how to do it yet? I've tried going to the site and d/l'ing but I get a bunch of code and no download ☹️
You can get Opera Mini on your Fin here:

compatibility

ok, this may sound like a dumb question... so bare with me...

would it be possible to buy this phone and activate it on another CDMA carrier? such as verizon?

i notice that helio and verizon are both CDMA and both use 850/1900 and EVDO

any ideas?
I doubt it, since Verizon has a strict policy on their Phone OS, all having to be the same.

The Helio phones use a more advanced OS with more features and everything unlocked, while for some reason Verizon dumbs down the menus into something I hon...

No.

Sprint phones are locked, and I'm pretty sure Helio phones are, too. Unlike GSM phones, there's no easy way to unlock CDMA phones. They're just not designed for it. In the cases where it can be done at all, it requires a code (unique password f...

I'm Getting One!!

I should be getting this phone on saturday or monday. I had to buy a new phone since my old one broke, so I surfed around helio's site, saw it, bought it, then only realized how awesome it is now after reading so much about it.

I'll post a review a few hours after I get it.

3 megapixels!!!1!!1!
I ordered mine on Wednesday at 1:00PM. The Fed-ex man delivered it at 1:00PM on Friday. Amazing.

It appeared to be activated, but it wasn't working. I called Helio and was told there was a problem and it would be 3 business days before someone at t...

Warning For Texters

Like I stated in the news release for this phone. There is no depression or click with the samsung touch sensitive keys. If you text a lot I highly recommend you try before you buy. I had a horrible experience with this model in it's gsm version. The keypad ruined what could've been a great phone for me.
There most certainly is tactile feedback when using the keypad. The Ultra Edition 9.6 (U300) uses a touch keypad with vibration feedback, but this phone is based off the Ultra Edition 9.9 (D830)

There is tactile feedback on the Fin. The keypad is perfectly flat and smooth, but when you press down on key, you can feel a definite "click". It's certainly not touch.

I know what you mean about the Ultra phone this is based on. When I tried the ...

Thinness

Okay im tired of hearing how thin this phone is but it really isnt.

It 11.5mm which is not thick but compared to the phones its based upon (the d830 is 9.9 the u300 is 9.3) it just proves that america is behind to hold a thin phone you have to have the u100 beauty.
