Verizon Says VoLTE to Launch in Coming Weeks

Advanced Calling 1.0 uses Verizon's LTE 4G network and requires that both devices have LTE coverage. Good luck with that in the Philadelphia market.

I think CDMA works very, very well for voice. I had 1X far too often on my Verizon phone.

Sometimes HSPA+ works (on at&t) better in rural areas for data, and I have a feeling WCDMA(at&t)/CDMA(verizon) will work better for voice calls in rural areas too due to the channel sizes. No harm in having VoLTE but it'll be a long time before it will be as reliable as WCDMA/CDMA in many areas.
