But Verizon and AT&T don't care what Sprint does. There is nothing that Sprint could ever do to make the big 2 do anything they don't want to do. Sprint isn't competition for them. If they merged with Tmo then they would be a threat.

I've been looking at the Droid Maxx because the full retail was $400. Now it's back up to $600.

But you can at least use your phone to make phone calls and use data unlike Sprint and TMO.

So here's the thing. VZW's actually not even trying to compete here. First, their biggest competitor, AT&T is offering up to $25/month off, vs. VZW's $20/month off. Then, unlike EVERY other carrier, the discounts on the monthly access fees don't apply to customers who bring in their own device or pay full price for their phone upfront, So even if I pay full retail, and don't get a subsidy, Verizon still won't give me the discount, UNLESS I opt for one of the EDGE plans, which still aren't as good as their competitors.

And yet Verizon still makes more profit than any other carrier and continualy adds more and more customers. You get what you pay for. And people want coverage.
