Injuries caused by 3rd party adaptors

I have never, ever, not even for the first charge, ever used an "apple" branded adaptor for my ipod. Never. I can tell you - I have not been injured.
and this was the conclusion. Better safe than sorry.

Here's why Apple power adapters cost what they do

lol at the chart for the counterfeit charge for the iPhone.
They rate the HP charger as better than the apple. Go to Amazon and look at item B0055QYJJM.

It sure looks like the same barrel-shaped AC-USB adapter from HP, plus a standard USB cable included (apple offering only the adapter for $10).

They cost "what they do" because Apple has an extremely high markup. They will still make a lot of money selling them for 1/2 price. Anyone who thinks Apple is doing this solely because they "care about their customer's safety" is naive.

Unless they're taking damaged or nonfunctional adapters in this trade-in program, this is pretty par for the course for Apple - shafting their customers and making them love it.
