Google Wallet Added to Gmail, Lets Users Email Money

My bank also just started offering this feature. I want to sign up but I am concerned about how the whole thing works using emails. o.o. I guess I dont fully grasp the security of how it works.
Gmail is probably the most secure, plus it has 2 step verification so unauthorized access is prevented. I have mine to send a text message for verification during the 2 step process.
Sounds great! Does it work anywhere in the world? I'd love to ditch Moneygram to send back to my wife's family.
