They say it's not technically a pyramid scheme!

Their head dude says they obey all of the laws for multi-level marketing. I'll assume that they do.

Well, just because something is legal does not mean it is not a pyramid scheme in the functional sense (in fact, pyramid schemes are not illegal by their nature, and specific laws have to be written to try to define what is naturally just a bad idea).

So is it? I don't know, but this option looks suspicious:

A Social Member Without Service chooses to participate ONLY in the Compensation Plan and does not use Solavei Mobile Service. Social Members Without Service must pay an annual fee of $149 to participate in the Compensation Plan.

Are you sure Bernie Madoff or his sons are not running Solavei out of their prison cells?

you do not make money if you sign up somebody and they do not get wireless service. you only make money on the cell service. basically you make $6.66 for each person that gets wireless service.

as interesting as this all is, and i say that without sarcasm of any kind, what in the world does this have to do with buying an over priced phone?

Well...

...at least it's not $1000.00. $999 sounds so much better to me. I might just buy one.

Of course I will need to take a second mortgage out on the house to buy a phone, but hey, it's worth it. Shocked

When a phone costs as much as paying off your car for half a year, you know it is overpriced.

Just sayin'
...
We used to have to pay these prices two decades ago for the privelege of owning motorola microtacs and transportable phones that were as big as briefcases.
The equipment got better, but pricing has held with these guys.

That's a ridiculous price for ANY phone....

Anyone who would actually pay that has more money than sense...
*cough* 64 GB iPhone 5 *cough*

You're completly right - NO device is worth that much. I thought apple products were overpriced. My buddy paid about $300 for his Z10, on a 3 year contract. Let me tell you - after he let me use the device for about ...

Smart move on Solaveis part. Now everyone will know Solavei.
Seems like they're the only MVNO that has higher data cap... 4GB/month then slow you down isnt bad compared to other ones out there that only give u 2.5GB/month.
...
They will know them as the company that charges outrageous prices for phones....which can't be good way of attracting customers.

Memo to Self

Find out why a Blackberry cost $999. What does it do so great that it will cost $1000. That is 4 car payments.

lol

No blackberry will ever be worth a thousand dollars
Does this include one year of unlimited service with the phone purchase?
...
No phone of any kind is worth $1999, unless maybe it included the ability to print your own money.
