In the upper right hand corner of the phone above my signal strength are 2 Z's. I haven't seen anything in the manual about it yet. What is it?
it means data is being transfered

Hi,

memory card

I have installed a sc card, scan disk, and can't seem to find it on my phone. When I hook up the phone to try and download music from media player it only shows the phone's memory available and not the card. I also have several documents that I thought were on the memory card but are on the phone's memory. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
Bob
No need to reply to my previous message. I found out on my own that the scan disk mini card was "bad". Received a new one from Radio Shack and it works great.

Extended Battery

I just bought this phone for a couple of my heavy users and they are having trouble with the battery life. One of them had the extended battery in the past and that helped but I can't find them anymore. Does anyone have any idea where I could find one?
Thanks.
Go to ebay and search for New OEM Audiovox PN820 PN8200 Extended Battery BTE820. I just purchased one and awaiting delivery. Good luck!

Pantech PN-820 as a Modem and Softwere Updates

😳 I am thinking about buying the PN-820 and read your review about the software upgrades that are needed. I will have to have good connectivity when using it as a modem for internet use with my computer running XP. I presently get a weak (1 bar) 1X signal with a Samsung i600 that improves to (2 1/2 bars) with a Wilson antenna. I will accept speeds as slow as 200 kbps and can tolerate the know problems as long as it does not lose my large phone list when it locks up.
😕 I called Verizon for the latest software version which they said was PN82.044-5.231.P26.44 and indicated that it was made available about 3/07. Does this look like newer version software and have you received any more feedback on updates?
Do you have a link?

WIFI

Does anyone know if this phone will connect to WIFI networks? My contract is coming up and I'd like to find a phone that is a dependable phone and will allow me to connect to free WIHI networks when they are available. I'd love to be able to carry one phone and not my Palm too.

ringtones

Anyone know if there is a way to upload ringtones or select a normal ring instead of the cheesy songs?
you can make your own ringtones with windows sound recorder. Save the sound sample in 8 bit mono 11.025khz .wav format and for phones in the options. Then transfer that file to the phone using active sync to My Windows Mobile Based Device -> Applic...

Which bluetooth handsets work well w/Pan 820?

I have a Plantronics Discovery 655 bluetooth headset that I was using with my Motorola MPX220 under AT&T/Cingular with no problems. Two weeks ago I switched to Verizon and bought the Pan 820. But the sound quality through the Plantronics 655 is so poor I can't use the device. People can't hear me clearly and the echo from my voice when I speak through the device is horrible.

Does anyone know how to fix this or know of another bluetooth device that works well with the Pan 820? I'm going to have to buy another phone or switch back to AT&T if I can't find a device that works.

Everything else about the phone has been good.

Thanks,

Playing Videos in Widescreen?

I have loaded some videos from websites that play rotated and wide/full screen. Videos that I take myself are always in portrait format. Does anyone know if there is a way to rotate my own videos and play them full / widescreen?

SD Card

I have two questions I hope someone will know the answer to.

1). Can anyone tell me the largest card that this phone will support?

2). Is there a registry editor that will work on this phone? I have tried Resco and PHM and they both say they are not supported on this phone.

Thank you in advanced.
I have a 4 gig card in my phone.

Just bought PN-820

I just bought the PN-820 yesterday after having the Q for 3 weeks. I didn't like the feel of the Q as much as I liked, but the main reason was the horrendous battery life I had on the Q. I couldn't make it through an entire day without having to recharge.

I was assured when I bought the PN-820 that the battery life was better than the Q. I might go on the internet 2-3 times daily. How much does it drain on the battery and will I have to recharge throughout the day? I've purposely have not used the internet much since buying the phone.

Also, the charger is a bit of a throw-back. I'm used to the adapter plugging into a small round hole. It's been a few cell phones since I've had one like this. Anyone ever have any problems with t...

I would get AGAIN.

As the subject states I used one of these for about a week. I loved the device except for a few issues. If its just me not being able to work the phone I will get one again. Here are my issues.

1. No predictive text in Email or Text Messages (there is option in Pic messages). Not having a full keyboard is great for size, but I use my T9 LOTS and this was the deal breaker for me

2. Email Setup was easy, but no "leave On Server" option. I would still like to check my email at home!!

I truly enjoyed using the phone and if these issues are just me being an idiot and not finding the menu to enable these options then so be it. I will get another one.

Phone Freezes

I have had the PN-820 for 2 months now. The phone will completely freeze up at least once a week and sometimes 2 times a week. Nothing on it will work. Verizon has told me that since it is a PDA that that condition is "normal" since some computers have to be re-started, too. You have to remove the battery when this happens. I would like to know is this true about PDA's. Has anyone else had this kind of problem on their PN-820?
I've had mine from the day it was released, and I just recently had the same problem. The people at verizon don't have a clue about the phone. Ihave called tech support several times for various issues and only once was I able to get someone who knew...

wireless sync

Hello,

Has anyone recieved the clienshell.exe error? It then asks if you want to send it to Microsoft. It happens everytime I try to refress the wireless sync.

When using wireless sync, it won't update my Outlook calender. If I use the Active Sync I get two of every e-mail. And setting up wireless sync has deleted my entire calendar both times. Also my e-mails come through really slow.

I had the IT guy at work install it the second time, so the settings all seam to be correct. Does anyone know how to get this to work right? The primary function I wanted was Outlook Calender syncing and it just won't work.

Thanks
