Local pride

I met a Taiwanese expat recently who told me how her family back home chastised her for carrying a Samsung phone. She should have been using an HTC from her home country, said her parents.

I shouldn't have been surprised, but it reminded me of how almost no one here will chastise you for not carrying a Motorola.
The only thing I really see some American pride in is buying cars. Some people just buy Ford or GM because they're American.

With most things though, it's all imports, so we don't have much choice... And I'm not going to pick a subpar product just...

I'm sure there was a significant import tariff that may also have priced HTC a little higher as well. Go to Korea and see how nearly every car on the road is Korean made as well as all nearly all of the consumer electronics and appliances used by the ...
