The Rhythm

...is coming to a halt.
Maybe, maybe not....time will tell.

But one thing is certain, all the people cheering for the demise of every smartphone platform other than iPhone and Android will be very unhappy if they get their wish.

Finally

We all knew this was coming RIM is now trying to salvage what it can. Everyone who has money in the company is now trying to sell sell sell. All the signs were there but BB10 gave people hope.

I Find It Ironic

When at&t offered to buy T-Mobile, so many people here complained about the possibility of an 'at&t/Verizon duopoly' yet now that we are actually facing that very possibility in the smartphone market, an 'Apple/Google duopoly' many of the people who bemoaned a duopoly in carriers are gleefully cheering for one in smartphone operating systems....

If it ever actually does get down to just 'iPhone vs Android' and nothing else....then as smartphone consumers we're seriously boned....

We've already seen the number of options decline by 2....Palm and Symbian both gone....and our choices are diminished as a result...

If RIM does indeed go bankrupt, as so many of you are gleefully hoping, then our only options will be iPhone, Android and Wi...

Very well said.
Each platform has it's advantages. All of us find things that are truly annoying and wonderful about our phones to gloat or whine about.

RIM's demise wouldn't be good for anyone
Nobody wants a platform duopoly, but RIM just doesn't have their stuff together. They've had 5 years .

Quite frankly, it's better the dead, lousy, legacy platforms get cleared out so developers don't have to waste time supporting them.

Let's Not Forget

This is by no means the end of RIM. Maybe, RIM as we currently know it but, they will still be around. Let's not get side tracked with the business aspect and understand that RIM may just turn out to be a more rounded company, once they open up more of there services to other platforms.

If they decide to go that route, it would be a way to keep people thinking about their services, like BBM, security features and email services. These were the three main features in my opinion, that made BB so popular, in addition to the physical keyboard, that is.

This will give them time to improve OS10, while actively improving user experiences and possibly offering something new to the game, while allowing them to run on other platforms. So, when ...

Is that this is not even confirmed yet....it is speculation by a third party source whom we don't even know has any real knowledge....

But....assuming it is true....exactly what this would mean for Blackberry 10 is anybody's guess...

BB going down

Rest In Peace
Think BB failed to deliver what customers wanted. Shame..Shame
I think this is premature, to say the least, the option of getting out of hardware business and focusing solely on software was one of the 2-3 options RIM was considered a likely way to reorganize the company....I'll be damned if I can understand how ...
