Wow, what a rip-off
The US market is getting screwed again.
No Quad Core
No 64GB version
They could have used the Exynos 4 chip but according to an article online:
"Although it would have been possible for them to adopt the Exynos 4 Quad SoC and combine it with a separate baseband chip, that would have taken a lot of time to implement."
So it seems that Samsung just wanted to get the S3 to the US market as fast as they could. So the fastest way was to trim it down below the EU and Asia versions. *sigh*
I am sure the phone will be fine and consumers will love it but I just feel that the US market is getting the shaft on this.

The only reason I can think of is corporate corruption. Qualcomm has a stranglehold on the US market. The rest of the world gets top of the line processors, while the US lags behind. Qualcomm is the same company that tried to force the US governmen...

Four of the five major carriers have announced their release date for the S3. The only holdout... AT&T. I wonder if they think they can sneak in a product change, like removing NFC, or up the price without anyone noticing.
Last one out of the gate, and they're only offering the 16Gb version.

Well the One X was released in the US not long after the European versions.

I wonder if Samsung is going to go the way of the iPhone 4S and just make one phone for all the carriers, including CDMA, GSM, WCDMA, and LTE supporting all the carrier's frequencies? That would have a lot of bands. Might get tricky with the LTE.
I suspect there will be two basic versions-- CDMA/LTE and GSM/LTE. The CDMA/LTE version will be used by Verizon and Sprint, the GSM/LTE version will be used by AT&T and T-Mobile.
