Alltel is launching a new widget platform, called Celltop. It gives users quick access to stock prices, sports scores and weather as well as phone-based information like recent calls and ringtones. Alltel expects to offer additional widgets that should expand the functionality of this platform as time goes on. It is available as a free download for certain handsets today and should ship on all new handsets by the end of the year.
