PlatinumTel Intros New $45 and $55 Plans
PlatinumTel today announced two new voice, messaging, and data plans. For $45 per month, PlatinumTel is offering unlimited talk, text, and 150MB of 3G data. For $55 per month, customers can use 2GB of data instead of 150MB. Picture messages will cost 5 cents to send, but both plans offer free long distance, on-network roaming, voicemail, caller ID, call waiting, and three-way calling. Calls to 411 cost $1.29 plus airtime. PlatinumTel provides pre-paid cellular services.
RingPlus To Offer Free Phone Service
RingPlus today announced a new mobile phone service plan that is ad-supported, but completely free to the customer. The ads take the form of ringback tones, which RingPlus customers hear on outbound voice calls, after dialing but before the other party picks up.
AT&T Bumps Up the Price of Unlimited Plans By $5
AT&T has quietly increased the cost of its old unlimited plans by $5 per month. The price jump is the second in a year from AT&T.
Cricket Follows AT&T's Lead with Unlimited Calls to Mexico
Cricket Wireless today announced that all customers on its $50 and $60 plans can now make unlimited calls to Mexico. Cricket's subscribers can call landlines and mobile phones at no extra charge, though Cricket said calls to special or premium services may be blocked.
Scratch Wireless to Start Charging for Cell Calls, Texts
Scratch Wireless, a Sprint MVNO, said it can no longer afford to give services away for free and will begin charging for some features. Scratch Wireless has historically offered free WiFi calling and free messaging via cellular and WiFi.
