RIM Adds Gift Requests and Wi-Fi Shopping to App World 3.1
Research In Motion today announced BlackBerry App World 3.1, a new version of the application store that adds a handful of new features. One of the primary new features is the ability to send gift requests to other BlackBerry Messenger users. The updated app store also fully activates the content rating system and associated parental filters. Last, BlackBerry App World 3.1 will now work over Wi-Fi even when there's no 3G network available. RIM said App World 3.1 will become available to users over the next few days, or can be downloaded immediately via App World.
BBM Gains PayPal for Android, BlackBerry, iOS
BlackBerry today added a handful of new features to its cross-platform messaging service. All versions of BBM (Android, BlackBerry, iOS) earn the ability to send money to BBM contacts using PayPal.
Google Adds Clock App to Play Store
Google has made its Andriod clock application available via the Play Store as a stand-alone app. The app includes a home screen widget as well as alarm, stopwatch, timer, and world clock features.
PayPal to Kill Off Its Windows Phone and BlackBerry Apps
PayPal today said it will sunset its Windows Phone, BlackBerry, and Amazon Fire Phone apps on June 30. After that date, Windows Phone, BlackBerry, and Fire Phone users will not be able to login to or use the Paypal mobile app.
Google Search App Understands More Natural-Language Questions
Google today said its mobile search app is better able to grasp the meaning of requests thanks to new language-recognition techniques. Google is now breaking down queries into smaller pieces to understand the semantics behind individual phrases so it can assess the intent behind the larger question.
