Square today updated its iOS mobile payments application to version 2.2. This revised mobile payment software now allows retailers to define what criteria constitutes a "regular" customer (10 purchase in a month, etc.) and then offer rewards based on that particular customer's loyalty. "With this update, a business owner won't just see a name when customers go to buy something, but they'll see a 'regular' ribbon attached and offer a discount," said Megan Quinn, Square's director of product, in an interview with the Wall Street Journal. The update is free. Square also recently updated its Card Case application for the iOS platform. It still expects to bring an Android version of Card Case to the market by the end of the year.
