AT&T's LTE Network Expanding on November 6
AT&T today announced a minor expansion of is Long Term Evolution 4G network to four more markets. Starting November 6, AT&T's LTE will be available in Boston, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Athens, Ga. (in addition to the five launch cities). AT&T said it still plans to reach 15 markets and 70 million Americans by year-end 2011. AT&T's LTE footprint is now live in 9 markets.
AT&T Says '5G Evolution' to Reach 20 Markets This Year
AT&T said customers who own the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ will have access to enhanced wireless service in Austin starting today. Austin serves as the first market for what AT&T is calling "5G Evolution" service, an effort to modernize and improve its network ahead of the official adoption of the 5G specification by international standards bodies.
AT&T Fills In LTE Coverage Gaps
AT&T today said its LTE 4G network is now live in a handful of new markets, including Alpena, Mich.; Worthington, Minn.; Klamath Falls, La Grande, and Roseburg, Ore.; Altoona, Pa.; and Alice, Bay City, and El Campo, Texas. AT&T's LTE network reaches 280 million POPs and should cover 97% of all Americans by the end of the year.
Sprint LTE and Spark Footprints Continue to Grow
Sprint today launched LTE service in 24 new markets and Spark service in an additional 24 markets. The company's LTE footprint now reaches 270 million POPs, while its Spark footprint reaches 125 million POPs.
Sprint Doubles LTE Plus Footprint
Sprint today said it has doubled the availability of its LTE Plus coverage from 77 markets in November to more than 150 markets today. Some of the new markets include Boulder, Colo., West Palm Beach, Fla., Cleveland, Ohio, and Syracuse, N.Y.
