RIM Outs BBM Social Platform WebWorks SDK
Research In Motion today announced the general availability of BlackBerry Messenger Social Platform SDK v1.0 for BlackBerry WebWorks. This set of tools works together with the WebWorks SDK to allow developers to create apps that can: access and update user profiles; create app-specific areas within user profiles for promotions; start BBM chats with BBM users, as well as transfer files and share applications back and forth; and use BBM to communicate in the background within other apps. The SDKs are available for download from RIM's developer support site.
BBM Beta for Windows Phone Now Available
BlackBerry and Microsoft today announced the immediate availability of BBM for the Windows Phone platform. BBM is being offered as a beta, but it includes many of the features available to the Android and iOS versions of the app.
BlackBerry Improves BBM with Support for Lollipop and iOS 8
BlackBerry today pushed out BBM 2.6 to the Android and iOS platforms, as well as its own BlackBerry platform. All three versions of the app gain new features, including support for stickers within group chats and a 60-second option for time chats.
BlackBerry Bringing BBM to Android Wear
BlackBerry today showed off BBM for Android Wear. With BBM on your wrist, Android Wear owners will be able to read incoming BBM messages, review and accept BBM invites, scan through the BBM inbox, and respond with either canned messages or dictated messages via Google Now.
BBM for BlackBerry Updated with Easier Photo Sharing
BlackBerry has pushed out a minor update to BBM for its own smartphones. The update streamlines the process for attaching photos, files, or other content to BBM chats.
