Vodafone KK, the Japanese arm of Vodafone, yesterday announced its new lineup of 2G phones for summer. The most notable is the Sharp V602SH, which is the world's first camera phone with an optical zoom. Unlike a digital zoom, an optical zoom does not degrade image quality, even at full resolution. The V602SH is a 2-megapixel model, and the zoom is 2x. Other features include QVGA video recording, barcode reading, a QVGA twisting display, and an SD card slot. Vodafone KK expects to release the new lineup "after late June, in phases".

2megapixel on 2G

😳
Anyone know how long it would take to upload a 2 mega-pixel photo on the Vodaphone KK 2G network??
It does have an SD card slot for transferring to a PC or printer kiosk, etc. I would be surprised if you couldn't also send a low-res versions for MMS, etc.
