Verizon Communications today announced that long-time CEO Ivan Seidenberg will step down from the leadership position effective August 1. Taking Seidenberg's place will be former Verizon Wireless CEO Lowell McAdam. McAdam left the CEO of Verizon Wireless spot in September 2010, accepting the COO role at Verizon Communications. When he assumes his new role as CEO of Verizon Communications, he will be in charge of all its operations and business units, including Verizon Wireless. Verizon Communications is the parent company of Verizon Wireless, which is a joint venture between Verizon Communications and the U.K.'s Vodafone. Dan Mead remains CEO of Verizon Wireless.

Can someone explain this article?

There have been some on this site claim Verizon Wireless & Verizon Communications are NOT the same companies. And yet Lowell McAdam can go back and forth from Vzm Vzn Wireless & Verizon Communications so easily. Certainly appears to me their the same company.
Two different companies owned by the samepeople. How hard is that?
...
Verizon Communications and the UK's Vodafone own Verizon Wireless just like SBC and Bell South own AT&T.
