HTC Buys Graphics Firm for $300 Million
VIA Technologies and WTI Investments today announced that they have sold their stakes in S3 Graphics to HTC for a total of $300 million. S3 makes graphics visualization technologies used in PCs, game consoles, and mobile devices. HTC didn't immediately say what it will do with S3's assets and employees. The sale has already been approved by the boards of VIA, WTI, and HTC. It is subject to regulatory approval in Taiwan, but the firms expect the deal to close by the end of 2011.

Google to Buy HTC's Pixel Handset Team for $1.1 Billion
Google today said it has agreed to purchase HTC's Pixel smartphone business, as well as acquire some employees and license intellectual property, for $1.1 billion in cash. HTC's Pixel engineers will be added to Google's existing hardware organization, where they will continue to work on the Pixel smartphone line.
