LG Taps Sonim For PTT Technology

Sonim Technologies and LG Electronics yesterday announced a deal for LG to embed Sonim's PoC Client™ in its phones. Sonim's software provides Push-to-Talk capability based on the Push to talk over Cellular (PoC) phase 1 interoperable specification, currently being considered by the Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) standards group. The deal will allow LG to quickly deliver PoC handsets for the GSM, CDMA, and WCDMA markets.

AT&T today announced plans to soon sell the Sonim XP5. The XP5 is a fully ruggedized feature phone that carries an IP68 rating for protection against liquid and dust ingress, and a mil-spec 810G rating for protection against drops and other physical abuses.
