Skype Now Offers Free Video Chat to Android Phones
Skype today updated its software for the Android platform to version 2.0 and added the ability to make free, one-to-one video calls. The video calling feature will work between Android devices, as well as with Android devices and Skype on the iPhone, Mac, and Windows PCs. The new application will first be available to the HTC Desire S, Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro, and the Samsung Nexus S. Skype didn't say when the updated software would be available to other Android handsets.
Skype for Android Gains Picture-in-Picture Feature
Skype updated its Android app recently and added several new capabilities. The most significant new feature for Android phones is the ability to multitask and maintain video chats outside of Skype though a picture-in-picture view.

Google today said more wireless network operators and handset manufacturers will use Android Messages, its RCS-based messaging service, as the default SMS/MMS tool on their phones. (Android Messages was previously known as Google Messenger.) Some of the features of RCS, which is a global standard, include group chat, high-resolution photo sharing, advanced calling features, and read receipts.

Skype today updated its iPhone application to version 5.5. The latest rendition of Skype takes advantage of extensions, which are a new feature of iOS8.
Skype for Android Now Compatible with Android Wear
Skype has updated its Android application with support for Android Wear, giving people the power to manage Skype messages and calls from their wrist. Skype will surface notifications on Android Wear devices, and can be used to respond to messages via dictation or pre-set text.
