Western Union today announced a new application for iOS devices that allows users to send money to one another directly from their phones. Once linked to a credit card or debit card, users can send Western Union Money Transfers to Western Union locations, where the recipient can pick up the cash. Users can also initiate a money transfer and then finish it in person at a Western Union branch. The app is first available to iOS users in the U.S., but it can be used to send money to any Western Union's 400,000 locations in 200 countries around the world. Western Union plans to offer similar apps to the Android and BlackBerry platforms soon.
