Verizon Wireless has confirmed that it plans to cease offering one-year contracts to new customers. One-year contracts will no longer be available starting on Sunday, April 17. A Verizon Wireless spokesperson explained via email, "Keep in mind, a majority of our customers select a two-year contract when buying our devices, so we are responding to what our customers want. They still have options available, such as two-year contracts, month-to-month and prepaid plans." Verizon also noted that customers can take advantage of its trade-in program to help defray the cost of device or service upgrades.
