The NFC Forum today announced the addition of 32 new members, including Google, which will be a Principal Member. The NFC Forum oversees the certification of NFC systems and standards. Google has backed NFC in its Android platform for mobile payments.

NFC Forum Approves New Security Specification
The NFC Forum today approved the Signature Record Type Definition (RTD) 2.0 technical specification, which will help authenticate the data stored on NFC tags. According to the NFC Forum, Signature RTD 2.0 lets developers verify the integrity of data within NFC Data Exchange Format messages, which is the core of how NFC tags and devices communicate with one another.
