Facebook Acquires Snaptu
Facebook has agreed to acquire a small company called Snaptu for an undisclosed sum. Snaptu developed software that brings Facebook mobile to feature phones. According to Snaptu, its Facebook for Feature Phones application works on some 2,500 different handset models. Facebook hasn't said how Snaptu will be put to use once the acquisition closes.

Facebook said beginning today people do not have to have a Facebook account to use Facebook Messenger. When first loading the app, users will have the option of signing in with a phone number rather than their Facebook account.

The Facebook Lite app is just 1MB to install, and Facebook claims it loads quickly and offers core features, such as News Feed, status updates, photos, and notifications.
