Facebook for Android Gains Better Photo Support
Facebook has provided a minor update to its application for the Android platform. The new features are concentrated on improving support for pictures. The new version allows users to upload photos to their friends' walls and upload photos to Groups. Photos will now upload with the correct orientation, and have improved appearance in landscape mode. Facebook also made some security tweaks (added SSL) and fixed a handful of bugs. The update is available to download via the Android Market.
Facebook Turns On Support for 360-Degree Photos
Facebook today made it possible for people to upload and view 360-degree imagery. The tool includes support for panorama-style photos, as well as full 360-degree photos or photo spheres.
Facebook to Support iPhone's Live Photos
The Facebook iOS application now lets users upload, share, and view Live Photos captured with the iPhone 6s or 6s Plus. Live Photos debuted with the newest iPhones from Apple earlier this year.
Facebook to Require Moments App to Sync Photos
Facebook plans to stop uploading users' photos automatically unless they download and install the Facebook Moments app. Facebook has long offered to sync smartphone photos automatically in order to promote sharing.
Facebook's Moments App Adds Video Support
Facebook recently updated its Moments app for Android devices and gave it the ability to share videos. Moments, which launched last year, scans users' photo libraries and uses facial recognition to find and tag friends in the photos.
