Alltel today announced Touch2Talk, the company's Push-To-Talk (PTT) walkie-talkie service. The service is based on Kodiak Networks' RTX technology. Alltel is the first major carrier to launch RTX, which Kodiak claims provides industry-leading speed and performance. The first phone offered for the service is the Kyocera 3250. The service will be available starting Thursday in about 50 percent of Alltel's markets, with availability in the remaining areas by March 31.

Alltel PTT

Alltel is currently a roaming partner with Verizon, so far as cellular calls are concerned. Anyone know if the PTT service will be compatible between the two companies?
Current version does not include roaming on Verizon. However, technologies are compatiable so it may just be a matter of time.
