Latest SlingPlayer App Update Adds Video-Out
Sling Media has updated its application for the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch to version 2.1. Aside from fixing bugs, the new application version introduces support for video out via component cable when streaming in high-quality mode. SlingPlayer Mobile allows iPhone/iPad users to watch content on their home DVRs remotely on their iOS device. A SlingBox hooked up to users' home television system is required. The application costs $29.95.
Apple Says Final Version of iOS 10 to Be Available Sept. 13
Apple today revealed that iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch owners will be able to upgrade to the latest version of its iOS platform come September 13. iOS 10 focuses on integrating Siri into third-party apps and makes significant changes to the Apple Photos, News, Maps, and Music apps.
Verizon Zero-Rates Its Fios Mobile Video App
Verizon Wireless today said the company's Fios home internet and television customers can stream an unlimited amount of live and recorded shows over LTE without impacting their monthly data allotment. Specifically, Fios customers can use the Fios Mobile app on their smartphones and tablets to watch 140 channels of live television, movies, and stored DVR content.
iOS 10 Won't Work on Older iPhones
Apple has indicated which iPhones and iPads will be able to run the newest version of iOS, and as always older devices are left out. iOS 10 is compatible with all versions of the iPhone from the 2012 iPhone 5 through the 2016 iPhone SE.
Chrome Remote Desktop for iOS Debuts in App Store
Google today published a version of its Chrome Remote Desktop application on the App Store for iOS devices. The app allows iPhone and iPad owners to remotely access their home computers.
