Broadcom and ARM Extend Licensing Deal
Broadcom and ARM today announced a newly-signed licensing agreement that gives Broadcom access to all of ARM's mobile processors, including its entire existing line and future lines. Terms weren't disclosed.
Samsung Signs Long-Term Agreement with ARM
Samsung plans to use ARM's graphic processing unit designs in its mobile devices for years to come. The company today signed a long-term agreement to license ARM's GPU designs, including the Mali-T820, T830, T860, T880, and all future Mali GPUs.
ARM Acquires Offspark
ARM today said it has acquired Offspark, a Dutch company that makes security software for the internet of things. ARM designs mobile processors, but also has an IoT platform called mbed.
Avago Technologies May Buy Broadcom
Avago Technologies is in advanced talks to acquire Broadcom, reports the Wall Street Journal. Terms of the deal are not yet available, and the Journal's sources say the deal may not be signed.
Broadcom to Cut Up to 1,900 Jobs
Broadcom Limited said it plans to reduce its headcount by about 1,900 jobs. The cuts will be made across Broadcom's global facilities and the company expects to take a charge of $650 million to cover the cost of the cuts.
Intel to Allow ARM Chip Builders to Use Its Foundry
Intel today said companies that design and build ARM-based processors will for the first time be able to use Intel's manufacturing facilities to make them. Intel will allow its Intel Custom Foundry customers to use its 10nm FinFET process for ARM cores and Cortex series processors.
